Need a bit of help...

I've been perusing the Board here and it's really not the same without aneirin. I missed the day of the ban, so can anybody fill me in as to why he was banned, and why isn't he back?

He got into another political debate on one of the other boards. One of his responses got him banned for a few days. He did not like the banning so he choose to banish himself on a permanent basis. He could have been back here, but is choosing to abstain.

Correct on all points. TB. It was a poltical debate in the Lounge. He was banned for three days by one of the mods over their and has not been heard from since. Unfortunately.

Yeah, the board is less fun without him around. I just wish people wouldn't get so hyped up about politics on a pro sports forum - there's just no need to take it so seriously. Most of it isn't even worth responding to. And its not just here, have any of you Giants fans seen the petty squabbling that goes on over at Big Blue Interactive (otherwise a great site)?

Come back, we need to talk hockey!!!

I love BBI.. Even the squabbling is funny.. A lot less "restrictions" on content to, so they go at it pretty hard..

I rarely post there, but I know at least gg is a regular here and there, and I'm sure a few others..

As far as aneirin, his "sabattical" is self inflicted, but I'm sure he'll be back when he's good and ready to (or bored). Wish it would be sooner than later..

---Yep, we need him back, I've been running into him on various boards for 5 seasons now, starting with the ESPN board in '98. He is a much needed voice on this board. If he's not back soon, we're going to have to find a way to bring him back. Maybe we'll have to start heaping praise on Sather that makes jar jar's gushing look tempered and mild. Or getting a temporary lift of the board's content restrictions and start posting articles by everyone from George Will to Michael Savage, and he'll feel compelled to respond!

Anyway, if you're still reading aneirin, happy holidays, and we hope to have you back in time to watch Sather's well-oiled machine steamroll the Flyers in the first round.

I'd fear the repurcussions of "forcing" him back like that! Talk about scorched earth!!!

To paraphrase the man himself, I miss his "Shavian bon mots"

Thanks klingsor...

I had just noticed it, read it, and am still hopeful he'll comeback someday to disagree with me.

Ahhh moose.. Nothing's more American than aneirin's opinions..

And unlike "typical" libs (and many neo conservatives) he has a wealth of knowledge and information to back his claims up..

well good.

i am glad that aneirin has his head on his shoulders. i got kicked off a site forever because of political debating. KILLS me to see what some have to say and believe out there BUT that is their respective right.

us war -mongers and neo - cons (such boring catch phrases) are very passionate!

Catch phrases indeed.. Cons are no more war mongers than libs are tree huggers..

regardless, I don't think aneirin would classify himself as a "liberal".. I think he, like most sensible folk, takes things on a case by case basis..

Aneirin....

Truth be told, I never cared for Aneirin's 'debating just to debate' attitude, but he's a swell guy like the rest of the poster's that frequent this site. But bottom line is THIS IS A FREAKIN HOCKEY BOARD. Leave the politics for some other board, the fights here(Sather vs. everyone but JarJar, Messier vs. Nedved, Jagr vs all of us) can't really be taken that seriously, it's all good fun in the end.

Aneirin: Stay away from the other HF message boards, stop in and say hi in Rangerland from time to time.

davis - you are right. as i get older i TRY not to label people. seems that some just so ealisy fit into a category!

i didnt know if anerin was more left or right.

also as i get older i realize that i become more moderate in my thinking. i like that. i question everything.

There have been lots of times when we debate things besides hockey. If you are offended by someone talking about anything but the Rangers, don't read the thread.

First off, TB, take a pill, you are so defensive these days, do all your posts have to be angry? And me of all people, i'm the nicest guy in town :p

I'm not telling anyone to keep it on hockey only, only the people who can't handle themselves when it does come to the OT posts. Aneirin can do what he wants, i'm just saying he doesn't need this board to debate politics, thats not the reason why we love him

---Yeah, I recall we had a really good music thread going at one time, lasted several days and was well into 3-digits if I remember correctly.
