To Montreal: Nylander
To Rangers: A. Kostsitsyn and S. Kostsitsyn (or a 1st in 2007 in place of S. Kostsitsyn)

To Nashville: Ward and a 3rd in 2008
To Rangers: Franson/Klein

To Canucks: Weekes
To Rangers: 3rd in 2007

AND Malik to whoever will take him for a mid-round pick lol

That would be my ideal partial firesale. I didn't attempt to think of a proposal for Jagr because I just do not see a team willing to pay the price it would take to obtain Jagr.
Not bad, but I think Ward's value is higher than one of those two NSH prospects on D.

I think you have to cross MTL off the buying list JMO. They're spinning out. I'd rather have S. Kostsitsyn and a 1st though. I really like that kid. I have no idea where his moxie comes from seeing AK play.

However, I find it hilarious that in a market where 5th defensemen are fetching first rounders, Anson Carter is only good enough to get a 5th round pick.
I'd add Tytuin to that list.

If teams are getting first rounders for the likes of Craig Rivet and Shane O'Brien we should seriously consider selling.

.

So I am led to believe that the Rangers couldn't have traded Rozsival to the Sharks for that same package?

I haven't read what Rodent wrote just yet but the Renney being Delusional part is something I agree with.

pins and needles, needles and pins it's a happy man that grins......

Try reading some of the thread. Why should I have to repeat myself 3-4 times?

I understand that this is your "ideal" partial sale, but I don't see us getting those returns for any of our players (even with current market conditions).

If you guys notice, the Devils do wear out when you play a physical game against them. They no longer have a Stevens or even a Daneyko back there. White is not bad...but not that tough. Guys like Rafalski and Martin wear our rather quickly. So in a 7 game series, if we get guys like Orr, Avery, Hollweg, Ortmayer to just pound their D down low...eventually they wont be able to stand it. We already did better in this game on Thursday than the one on Tuesday...just by wearing them out!

I like our chances against them in the playoffs...we just need to make it there, and I think we will.
You're dreaming. We won't even make the playoffs, let alone beat the Devils.

Too true. Too bad the Rangers can't learn from them how to play defense, capitalize on mistakes, draft well, and consistently run a winning organization.

I've read the whole thread. Nothing I've read has convinced me that trading away older players for good picks and prospects will have any lasting negative effect on this team. When buyers are tossing around 1st round picks for marginal players and our team is going nowhere fast I see no reason we shouldn't be offering our guys to the highest bidder.

Just got home from watching the movie "The Number 23"...

And I've seen Rivet fetch a FIRST!!!!??????

If we are going to SELL, WE NEED TO SELL NOW, FAST & HARD!!

In this market we might end up with 3 or 4 first round picks the way things are going.

Come on Slates! The season looks dead, get us some first rounders & call the kids up.

Somthing you have to remember is that, despite the crazyness of the market, teams havn't been throwing around young roster players and prospects the way they have picks. With the exception of Parent, what notable prospect has been moved so far? Evetybody wants to move they're picks, but they're holding onto players already in the organization, so I think your less likely to pick up a Klein/Franson or Kostsisyn than you may think (also, montreal looks like a seller right now.)

This is a sellers market right now...The Rangers will never get a better return for guys like Nylander, Ward, Rachunek, you could probably include Cullen in the mix..

well like they say think about how dumb the average person is and then realize that 1/2 the people are stupider than that.

What's sad is that we're only 3 games back and we lost 4 games that should have been won in the last week. This team should be in the top 8 but has blown it game after game.

there is a very valid argument to be made for not being a seller. but being a buyer in this market, with this team, is the height of stupidity.

If we are dealing guys just because we don't think they got any future here, I guess picks would do.

But a 1st round pick from a contender the majority of time are 3-4 years away from helping out... So I would think that we are more interested in prospects.

Though, I agree with you on Maloney and Slats, a good GM would have asked around what we could get for a Malik or Nylander three weeks ago if we were out by now, now we are out and a good GM should just be able to lift up the phone and pull the trigger. Though, I wouldn't be suprised if Slats and Maloney were laying in their beds at this point, 3am et and wondering what da heck to do know.

Just dont become a buyer. I could handle standing Pat unless we are talking Zeredev, Horton or Seabrook.
