Smid Appreciation Thread!

After 57 games of hard work our boy, Ladislav Smid popped his first NHL goal. Congrats.

It's amazing that he only hadn't scored yet with that skill set of his. Dude is going to be a very good top pairing dman for us for years to come (I hope we lock him up for a long time)

Let's hope this builds his confidence and he add a few more to end the year.

I don't really understand the people who put this kid down, I love him. Glad to see him score.

I was so happy to see him score, right before it I was thinking is Smid going to step up with Gilbert injured(god I hope he is alright, someone good makes the line-up and gets injured, welcome to the Oilers season.), damn did that ever make me feel good, same with Stortini laying out Berard.

Congrats Smid! Well deserved.

What? Who puts that kid down? He's been everything we could have asked for and more, for a 20yo D-man.

He's gonna be a serious player

Congrats on your first goal Smid!!!

Suprisingly, lots of people have been putting him down, saying he's overrated, brutal, etc. I don't see why there expectations are so high for his first season, imo, he has been great.

Gratz smid.

Smid is everything you could ask for in a first year D-men. Hes playing in our Top 4 as a rookie. Sure our defence is weaker, but he has played top notch.

I love how he never panics.

He'll score 5 goals in the first 40 games of next season. Mark my words. He just needed to put the first one behind him.

I'm not overly concerned if he does or not, his defensive play is what I like. The statement was just more out of the idea that he'll probably play his better years in the NHL with another team.

Lay off the concussions, buddy!
Smid is here to stay, Lowe & MacT & Huddy have already made him a priority for our team.

That never seems to make a difference in the history of the Oilers.

Pretty good interview by Smid here.. http://www.edmontonoilers.com/intera...70222-post.wma

I laughed pretty hard when he was talking about not knowing if he scored or not.

Wow, thanks Captain bring down. I know he's not Paul Coffey or Chris Pronger, but he's still damned good and only 20. He get alot better there chief.

And for the record, I've been pimping Smid all year.
