He was great in his first few trips up, but has fallen off in the past few weeks.

Other than the hit on Kronwall (which is only notable because of the injury), he's been invisible recently.

I think he'll be a big part of the team next year, especially if they lose Barnes in the offseason. I think the Stars will go with Ott in the postseason, though, if only because he's been there before and should be rested up.

I think that Dallas will give him a solid look next year for sure, but seeing as the team's been winning I don't think they want to upset the chemistry that's giving them those wins. If it ain't broken, don't try to fix it.

In regards to Kronwall, he looked geniunely upset that an injury was the result of that play. Wasn't anything Joel could have done different, but the fact that Kronwall is his countryman seemed to upset Joel a litle more.

And they got a IIHF WC gold together last year, so Kronner wasn't exactly suprised that Joel finished that hit, he always have and always will.

It was crunchy but clearly hip on hip.

Kronner got hurt due a plain fluke. He lost his balance and went hip first into the boards and cracked some bone in his innards.

I'm not sure that Joel would have skated up and asked if it wasn't for the fact that it was Red Wings, it was a swede down and lots of other swedes around, so he could assume that skating up and asking would be taken seriously and not seen as an hostile act.

May the Stars go deep into the playoffs or drop out fast.
So that he either gets to go for the SC or defend his WC

He seems to have lost a lot of energy, but I imagine that has more to do with this long season wearing on him than anything.

Also depends on what he's asked to do.

I read the following in at dallasnews.com
Quote:
But the Stars have extra forwards now, and coach Dave Tippett made use of them this weekend. He used finesse players Joel Lundqvist and Loui Eriksson on Friday against a playmaking Detroit team. He then played physical checkers Steve Ott and Krys Barch against a more physical Nashville squad.
Now I do love Joel dearly, even more than I love Our Lord Saviour S:t Henrik of Manhattan, but I get very scared when anyone calls him "finesse player".

He has many good qualities, but 'finesse' isn't one of them.

I think they're trying to say that Lundqvist and Eriksson are more positional players than the pure physical presence of Ott and Barch.

That being said, I think that Eriksson & Lundqvist will turn the corner offensively next season. There's a lot more scoring in those two than we've seen.

Urgh.

It's just that I think that Loui Eriksson is a frikken figure skating ballerina and Joel isn't.

I know that I shouldn't, but I just can't stand him and never could.

But as long as Joel isn't sent back to Des Moines I'm happy

The only reason I could fathom Lundqvist being sent down is for a playoff run in Iowa. But I would give that a 5-10 percent shot of happening. He's come in and made a great impression on the coaching staff.

Troy - completly agree with you on the long season thing.

I disagree. I think it's more of an effect of him just flying around when he was first called up in order to impress the coaching staff, like most rookies do. Obviously that's not a pace that anyone really sustains - I don't think it has to do with burn-out over a long season. He's only played 375 NHL minutes this year, which ranks him at 21st on the team. Zubov has played nearly 2k for comparison.

He has played like that for years.

In SEL he was known as a generic PITA, everyone just hoping that he'd end up 3/4 line in NHL soon as possible.

Because he played like he was a 3/4 line center in NHL, but on the wrong league.

When S:t Henrik of Manhattan got SEL records in SO's and Sav%, brother Bst:d Joel got the same records in PIM's.

I am sure that he'll be a fixture on the Stars, as 3/4 line center and PITA, but fixture none the less.

Sorry for repeating but I haven't been able to catch any of the games, post game reporting hasn't really told me anything and stats in such a low score series doesn't say much either.

How has my favourite player done in the playoff so far?

He has been 1/3 of a line that has shut down the Sedins for the past 5 games and provided most of the Stars' offense. In short, very well.

Once the playoffs started, he really got his jump back. He's hitting a lot, playing so very smart, and has even contributed to making that Halpern line more offensively potent than the Sedin line.

Joel has been great. As mentioned before he's been a big part of shutting the Sedins down.

I've been so pleased with him that I bought one of his sticks to add to my collection.

Thanks alot for the info.

It's great to see him succeed and be enjoyed in his new colours.

Has a pair of twins ever faced eachother in a SC final?

Joel keeps the Star on his jersey but moves back from 3:rd liner in Dallas to 1:st liner in Iowa.

Let's hope these stars can get deeper into the playoffs

Looks like both the Lundqvist twins will be in action at the same time, but with slightly different teams.

Which is why he got two goals in his first Iowa game instead of just one in his last Dallas game

One would guess that Omaha's goalie isn't exactly Loungo.

There's one thing I don't understand.

Didn't Joel sign a entry level 3 year contract with Dallas/Iowa last spring?

But I've seen him listed as RFA this summer, is that part of the contract?
