Personally, Prucha can slot anywhere from the 1st to 3rd line and be effective right now.

Would you guys really be that disappointed if he became a solid 20 goal 3rd liner who could slide up if there were injuries?

Watching his play since his first year in Czech Extraliga my answer is no, not at all ... I have never thought he could be a first line NHL player, though his run for 30 goals from last season was even biger surprise for me than for all of you.

I wouldnt have a problem with it at all. He is a very versitile player and like you said Jon if/when injuries happen, it would be nice to have a solid guy who can fill that spot and help keep the team moving.

Depending on how he's used and who his linemates are I think he's quite capable of hitting 30 goals again. Used on the third line though--20 goals is very acceptable as long as the second liner in front of him can do the same or if less than that provide some other intangible to earn that spot.

A 3rd liner that can score 20 goals and play on the PP? I wouldn't mind if that's what he is when its all said and done.

Of course i'd prefer him to be a 25-30+ 2nd liner though

Absolutley not. I'd sign up for that right now. If you get that out of an 8th round pick, you're playing with house money.

The only potential problem I have with what you discribe is that a lot of our prospects seem to fit in that category.

I don't care where he plays as long as he stays on this team. The kid has the heart of a lion. I've respected him since he became a Ranger but watching him dive on Colin White like a madman to get him off Avery blew my mind.

Let's define first, second and third lines first...

in my definition, Betts and Ortmeyer are not third liners, they're fourth liners. If you have a top line, a real checking line (i.e., like Madden) and then a third line with offensive players, then yes, I wouldn't be upset if Prucha ended up there. However, I think he does deserve to be on a top PP unit. He showed that last season he's a good option for the left side and tallied 16 PP goals in 260 PP minutes - not too shabby, and a good deal better than what Shanny was able to do this season, under similar circumstances. So 20-25 goals may not be the right number, but 10-15 ES goals may be, plus whatever he'd get on the PP.

Perhaps I'm in the minority. Let's sign Gomez and put Prucha with him. I say 25-30 goals especially with pp time

As an outsider looking in, I believe Prucha will score 30 or more goals again in his career. He's a very hard worker who has a good shot and release.

20 goals a season from a 170 lb player with tons of heart? That'd be fine.

No I wouldnt be at all. In fact, I remember having this conversation with my friends in the offseason. This is what I kind of felt like Prucha's game would be. While I think there may be some years he can net 25-30 goals, I think as long as he stays healthy he can be a great hardworking 2nd to 3rd liner.

I think if he puts on some weight and gets a fair shake at the 2nd line the kid will be a 30 goal scorer for his whole career. Don't forget, he's only a 2nd year player. Unless you have amazing talent, you don't truely start to peek until your 4th-5th or so season

Yes, because he can easily be a 30 goal scorer every season if he is given the opportunity. He's way too small right now, so there is still a lot of strength to be gained for him. That and he already has a ton of confidence

Prucha is what he is, last season was a bit of an aberration , he ws never projected to pot 30, he's a scrambler and a digger - he's gets into trouble though when a) he takes nites off, because his whole game is hustle b) on the defensive end, he has glaring deficencies in his own end c) skates with his head down - Look out.

I picture Prucha a lot like Straka. He can be a 2nd-3rd line guy, that if the situation is right could have a run of 1st line time in his career, though he is not the prototypical 1st liner. Not bad, considering Straka was a 1st rounder.

If he pots 20-someodd goals every season from the 3rd line + 1st PP time, I would be psyched to keep him for the duration of his career. I would additionally be happy if Cullen did the same (20g, 3rd line + some PP time) for the duration of his current contract.

i think if the kid puts on some weight, you're talking about parking your rear end in front of the goal and being in the right place at the right time.. thats like 30+ to me

I think if he can add some muslce, weight and confidence in the offseason, he can be more than a 20 goal guy.

A 20 goal third liner isn't bad if we have guys scoring 30 goals on the top 2 lines...

I hate putting guys into a catergory of 1st 2nd 3rd line players......

Anybody realize that he is scoring now that hes getting ice time on the PP? This kid IS A 2nd line NHL player, hes gonna hit 20 goals after playing 3rd and 4th line most of the season!

See, I disagree with that. We have a ton of 3rd line prospects, but who of them projects to be a 20 goal scorer? I mean, Peter Puck is already one.

Korpi may one day find the offense to do that. Callahan might also. But who else? Dawes isn't the same player as Prucha is, IMO. I don't think he'd ever be a fit on the 3rd line. I don't see a guy like Byers ever popping in 20, either.
