Bill Watters leaks on Leafs TV

On Leafs TV today at lunch, Bill Watters was talking about Ric Jackman's conditioning assignment to the St. John's Maple Leafs. He indicated that this move was done cause the Leafs are close to making a deal.

He didn't mention any names but just said that he was sent down cause the leafs might be ready to make a move. They have too many bodies and just might end up losing someone they don't want to lose to waivers.

I keep forgetting that the florida meetinsgs are being held

usually quinn is there but I guess Fergie is there now.
Maybe a 2 or 3 leaf players nhl/ahl prospects will get a early christmass present abd be traded to a team where they can have a better role and vs versa for any player that we may get

btw True Blue welcome back to HF

I imagine Mike Milbury will be a very poplular man there at the Florida GM meetings as he is the one ready to pull the trigger for anybody on his team these days.

I thought you meant he took a leak on TV. He is looking old thes days.
Watters is a sad case. he was a entertaining radio play by play guy with Joe Bowen before he became part of leaf management. Now he is just a Leaf lackey spouting verbal diarhea every chance he gets.

Watters is anything but a sad case. He is still well connected to the organization, and has an extensive background as a player agent before he went to the Leafs. He knows what he is talking about.

Perhaps there won't be a trade, but most likely someone wants to see if Jackman is a player that they are interested in. He needs to play if he or anyone else is going to be moved.

Of course, I don't know how much the Leafs are going to get for a guy who can't beat Bryan Marchment out of a spot on the defence...

Jackman is better than Belak, and that's about it.

He may know hockey but all he does is parrot the Bible according to Pat Quinn. Of course I am not expecting him to jeopardize his 2 million dollar a year contract by saming something negative about the leafs.

Just to note that apparently MOJO has lost listeners since they became the Leafs radio station.

Where did you hear this? It's a interesting perspective that can't be right at all considering they've always advertised from day 1 of starting that they were the home of the Leafs. They had no listeners before they became the home of the Leafs because they didnt exist. :p

What Two million dollar contract??? He got let go at the end of the season, and is now part of the media free and clear. Although he is on Leafs TV, he is no longer a employee of MLSE. He works for Sportsnet, and for MOJO radio.

One thing that is for sure is that he is not Pat Quinn's Parrott. He has said that it was Pat's fault that Cujo left. That it was a his poor communication at th Olympics that made Joseph's decison. He has questioned why Quinn stays with certain vete's, and even stated that the Nolan trade was Quinn's idea, and that it was, and is a mistake.

Just for the record, Watters never mentioned anything about a possible trade.

This is a bogus rumour.

In fact, today Watters was talking glowingly about Jackmans future with the club.

Have we really resotred to such a level that we are just makng things up in the hopes that something happens?

Watters is also an unabashed defender of Trevor Kidd, which is beyond me. Maybe his shoulder is better now but he has sucked bad for 4 years now. Last year with the Leafs was the best he's been which ains't saying much.

Watters thinks Kidd is a starter in the NHL next year. I dunno, we'll see.

Actually Watters said that Kidd deserves a shot.

Which he may very well, I don't think he does. But were watters is coming from is that when he originally hurt his shoulder, Kidd has the best stats of any goalie in the NHL. I believe he was with Carolina, and got hurt at the skills competion. Since then he hasn't been healthy, and now that he is it is time to see if he can regain that form.

Playing hockey isn't that different than anything else. When you are happy and comfortable you can succeed. Kidd has had to deal with a Shoulder injury that was originally mis-diagnosed, and then his wife developed cancer, and then he was released and injured again.

He wasn't all that bad for the leafs last year, the team was awful infront of him.

All I know is that anytime I saw Kidd play in Florida I laughed to myself saying that this guy is the worst goaltender in the NHL.

Then we signed him!!

And apparently we signed him as a starter should Belfour not have panned out.

I hope he continues to play well; sometime though I swear, Quinn as a GM fell into a sewer and found a diamond ring.
