why do you think that both the kings AND the stars will suck next season? i personally think kings have a decent chance of making the playoffs (although WITHOUT cloutier) and if they don't make it then they're gonna end up 9th maybe 10th in the conference if we're lucky. dallas is going to be a top 10-15 team until modano/zubov/morrow don't play you wil NOT see that team in the bottom 10

I did say "potentially". Also I see Dallas being on a decline. They are definitely not as good as they were 3-4 years ago. I personally think that Dallas will be a 7-8th seed at best next season ......that is if they make the playoffs at all.

So, without even seeing how Brian Boyle plays for the Kings, you're saying the scouting staff failed in drafting him? Seems like a pretty absurd blanket statement.

Maybe. When the Kings drafted Boyle even they stated that he was a "project" type player. Usually that is not the type of player you select with a 1st round draft pick......But the Kings did because they had 3 picks in the 1st round in 93 and felt it was worth the risk. He may never see the NHL and if he does he will probably already be 23 years old. Generally speaking the majority of 1st round picks usually make their NHL debut before they turn 23. That could end up as a bad thing for the Kings because it greatly shortens his potential tenure with the team.....assuming that he is worth trying to retain.

And the Penguins failed with Ryan Whitney, as well?

07 Draft Question

does anyone know if the 2nd rounder received from Vancouver for Sopel is Vancouver's pick or the one the Kings sent them for Cloutier?

Thanks

I sound like a broken record here.

THE ORIGINAL PLAN FOR BOYLE WAS THAT HE WOULD STAY IN SCHOOL ALL FOUR (4) YEARS

Everyone knew this when they drafted him, and it is exactly what happened. Everything is going according to plan.
