Sather in Edmonton today

I think Maloney is there too. How perfect is that?

In the 24+ hours when they have to decide the immediate future of the franchise, Sather is back in Edmonton reliving the glory days, where he actually had some success.

Don't get me wrong, I understand why he's there and I think he should be there. But man, this is a perfect picture of our season, and maybe the last seven years as well.

Sather brought his body back to visit his heart.

By now all should be done with trades.

Maybe Sather can talk Messier out of retirement.

Best case scenariuo would be Slats not coming back. There is no reason wht the Rangers needs should be put before Slats' pursuit of happiness. He has a lifetime contract and there is zero pressure on him to perform.

Is there any chance Mess goes to work in the Oilers organization?

Okay, I understand why people want to slam him for this, but in the age of cell phones and remote log-ins, is it REALLY such a big deal?

Maybe while out there, he'll have an epiphany, and wake the F up, and start doing more for this team.

can someone explain to me this fascination with messier being gm .... just bc kevin lowe does a good job in edm doesnt mean every ex play who has ZERO personal and management experience can come in and do a good job. the first time he deals prucha for the rights to serge nemchenov everyone will be off that bandwagon

It was a joke, hence the . I personally dont think he has proven anything in regaurds to his ability to be a GM in any league let alone the NHL. Maybe he will get a shot and prove me wrong, but I doubt that will happen anytime soon.

I think Sather is in Edmonton because they are retiring Messier's jersey. I think tomorrow.

I would tend to doubt it--Messier mentioned recently that he wanted to settle down in NYC. He hasn't really spent much time in Edmonton since he was traded here either.

Sather has 30 some years of personnel and management experience.

What's that got to do with anything?

I love that saying. I want to say it again, because I haven't said it in a while: what's that got to do with anything? Jeez. The English language is great, ain't it.

Quite Likely MaloneySlats Deals are already well thought out and on the table for relevant GM's to ponder.

Maloney is making these deals with a final nod from Sather

They should be in close proximity and already aware of any and all possabilities coming their way.

No Panic here. Keep the kids, improve this team, if possible, without ruining the better parts of chemistry.

The Avery and Duprie trades are looking good

As far as the roster implications Hall was a bust and Ward was underperforming

If nada happens tomorrow it's only because they played it smart and held the upper hand dealing or not dealing on their own terms.

For what its worth since the Cap Sather has been pretty good. Took a chance on Ozo( 7 time all star QB Dman) and is quilty of expecting too much from Matty Cullen imo, but he hasnt traded talent from Hartford or any key roster guys and our team despite the lack of points is imo, a better team now than last year at this time....or should I say a more promising team.
