The goal-waving call was bullcrap. Way too close to call that, especially since Blake was right behind Keane. Had he been all alone, maybe, but... Dvorski clear did the "make up call" with Selanne. It was a hold but players get away with that degree of obstruction all the time. Oh well. Hopefully the rest is "let em play, boys" hockey!
That call might serve to crank the emotions up even more though, because Crawford went absolutely berserk. I was laughing my ass off when they showed the replay at the end of the period. He is fast becoming my favorite coach; his tirades are the greatest.
Hate to say it, Wings fans, Blues fans, but these two teams are the best teams in the conference overall. The level of play here is something that you only see maybe 10 times in a season.
I thought Blake and Jovanovski absolutely dominated this game. Both of them, to me, are Norris Trophy canidates #1 and #2 (in that order), Pronger is probobly in there too somewhere. Absolutely phenomenal play by David Aebischer, and Auld was not bad at all either.
My 3 stars would be:
#1 - David Aebischer
#2 - Rob Blake
#3 - Ed Jovanovski
However, consider it a #4, Todd Bertuzzi ran roughshod over the Avs defense all night. Nobody could contain him, not even Foote or Blake. If Bert puts games like this together more often, he could score 50 goals in his sleep. Sadly, games like this for Bertuzzi come along once every 10 games at this time of the year.
Son of a *****! Well. The score doesn't settle much, but it looks like the Canucks shelled Aebi. Did either team dominant the other? Any standout players?(other than the goal scorers?) Was the Van Goal a soft one? Thoughts on the game?
I am so bitter about not having Center Ice yet
edit-a bit slow with this post, thanks for the commentary.
