This is an AWESOME trade for us. We got Alex Bourret and a 3rd.

For those of you who dont know, Alex Bourret is a 1st rounder who is ranked as the #1 prospect of Atlanta by HF.

More than that, he is a great all-around player, in the Sean Avery mold!

Read up on him here:

this is what happens when you make promises for playoffs and have to fear loosing your fan base if you dont come through

Alex Bourret AND a third for basically Adam Hall? I take back most of the bad things I have said about Sather

you make this deal every single day of the week. Tremendous deal. This kid was playing junior last season, he has a ton of potential and is the kind of difficult to play against guy this team has been trying to build around

I have to say that I am very impressed with the last 4 deals we made actually. I have a feeling that Renney is behind all this since I know he mentioned watching Avery a lot before we got him.

1. We got Avery for very little
2. We got Dupuis for Hall, not bad
3. We got Mara for Ward. I liked Ward, but we do need a PP dman.
4. Dupuis for Bourret and a 3rd?!
That is a HUGE steal. He had a very slow start to his minor league career this season in AHL. However, he has turned it on as of late, going at a close to point per game pace there. He is going to be a very good player in the Avery mold...you'll see. The 3rd is just too much here, but I'll take it!

To be honest, I'd rather have 5 Averys on this team than 5 Jagrs. Any day!

Seems like a video game trade.

Trading a third line player for Bourret and a third?

I can understand if this guy was amongst the best shut down players in the game, but seriously.

seriously...i mean dupis for a 3rd would have been good and what moore and hall are worth, but how we added a top 6 winger to our stables, i have no idea.

all we need to do now is trade away some 3rd and 4th line guys from hartford come the draft....

getting anyone who is top-5, let alone the top player in a teams prospect pool is great..

i know that we all may agree that we all have different ideas as far as the rankings are for prospects, but HockeysFuture has him #1 for Atlanta (now for us).

Wow... Cant like this deal much more..

Rangers get a player like Bourret (who i know started slow but o well) and open up a spot for the rest of this year for someone like Dawes, Callahan or whoever.

Atlanta is desperate.

Bourret started slow, but overall his numbers really aren't bad for a first year professional. Plus a 3rd! Great trade!

The thing that gets overlooked is that the kid is one of the younger players in the AHL.

He doesn't even turn 21 till October, we're talking young here.

how can anyone not be loving this deadline..?

we got rid of Krog.
Ward (34 years old) for Mara (27) and a PP D-man
and
Dupuis (UFA) for Alex Bourret (20-year old prospect) AND a 3rd Round pick..

nothing too much given up, got younger, got a prospect and a pick..

btw, Bourret is going to be 4th on the Pack in terms of points behind Callahan (33/18/51), Dawes (14/22/36) and Byers (14/19/33) with 32 pts; in less games than all 'cept for Dawes.. he was injured for a bit in the beginning of the season.

also, his PPG will be 4th on the Pack with .71, behind Cally (.96), Dawes (.84) and Immonen (.72)..

Is this Maloney or Sather? Nevertheless, great trade. I'm still waiting for thsi to be corrected with...oh, and Petr Prucha goes to Atlanta as well.... ;o)
