We now rely on the Flyers third goalie for a playoff spot. That is SO wrong...
Playoff spot??? Does it look like the Canadiens are playing well enough to deserve a playoff spot? NO....not even close!!!!!
They are playing rotten and it doesn't look like things are going to turn around so lets ride it out and see how far we can slide...the lower we go, the better pick we will get. Thats what we should be aiming for....not the playoffs because this team will be out in 4 straight games even if we do make it....so why bother with even more humiliation!!!
If Danis is hurt and cannot play in Montreal then we should be....
Danis is healthy again and in the last game I saw him play, he did a very nice job keeping the Dogs in it through regulation and overtime. He struggled a lot in the shootout but he pretty much got the Dogs a point through the rest of the game. Still some questionable rebounds but that has been an issue for some time, he made some big save at crucial times though. I don't know if he'd perform any better in the NHL than any of the other goalies but if we can't keep in the hunt for a playoff spot, I'd like to see him and Chipchura called up for a few games (3-4 for Danis, 1-2 for Chip). With Yann we could perhaps further evaluate his play in the NHL before deciding what to do with him next year (that is if a decision hasn't already been made and management feels another look at him is worthwhile, albeit a brief look) and I think Chip deserves a brief callup as a reward for this season and to give him a little extra motivation (not that he would need it) to be ready for next year with the Dogs.
Where is he at? If Danis is hurt and cannot play in Montreal then we should be dressing Leighton and give him the starts. It quite obvious that Halak isn't going to steal games for us and if he keeps getting played and losing, its not going to help his confidence any. Aebischer is so hot and cold that its not worth giving him anymore starts this year so give Leighton a chance....I bet he won't do any worse....in fact I can see him winning a couple of games.
Halak allowed 5 goals on 15 shots. He hasn't been good at all.
3.71 GAA, .874 save %
Not going to cut it if we want to make the playoffs, and we all know aebischer isn't going to be any different.
Why not give Leighton a try, he can't do any worse..
