Do you guys think that he'd be a good pickup? He would be sort of a better wersion of Jason Weimer. He doesn't get the PIM that Weimer does, but from a JM perspective that's probably better. What do you guys think it would take to get him?
An enigmatic player to be sure... I used to think he was going to blossom into a solid 40-50point player, but he never really materialized. That being said, he's big, fast, and is defensively sound. The only problem is that he makes a fair amount, and doesn't necessarily bring a whole lot to the table that a healthy Mike Fisher wouldn't anyways.
good in the corners, but he has hands of stone. I always thought he was going to turn out great in Edmonton because he showed some flashes, but it never panned out.
Don't forget all the concussions. Even Wade Redden put his lights out a few years ago with a knuckle love tap. Beware what you acquire before reading the small print on the warranty.

I agree - and LOVE the username (FALILV I'm assuming)?
Being an Oilers fan I can say that Mike Grier shows up to play every game. However as you guys pointed out he's got hands of stone. I remember his last season with the Oil, he was hitting posts when he had a emty net to shoot at. You'd be very happy with him if you don't expect scoring, as he'll hit, and if placed on a checking line, can shut down just about anyone.
Couldn't agree more. He is having a terrible year, which is a bit of a plus because he would come cheap in a trade. He makes over 1.5M I think, but the Sens could definately use a guy like him. He IS one of the hardest hitters in the game. Washington's a mess, his style is better suited to a faster team like Ottawa. He is TOUGH. The season before he was dealt out of Edmonton, he had a chronic shoulder problem (it popped out every 3 games or so) and suffered excruciating pain each time (more pain when it was popped back in...ON THE BENCH!). You could hear him screaming. But he avoided surgery so he could play in the playoffs. And he continued to hit, even though that was the biggest cause of the repeated "pop-outs". He was a tremendous player and a great guy around Edmonton. I wish we still had him. Not every player has great hands, but Grier, in my mind, is one of the true heart and soul players in the game.
