Manny Fernandez

What is the time table for his return, and even when he comes back, is therre a chance that Backstrom will continue to start?

I think we will play the hot goalie, which is Backstrom currently. When Manny comes back and Backstrom begins to slup, expect Manny back in the net

I didn't want to start a thread for this, and it may be off topic a tad, but is Backstrom an UFA after the season? Can you give me any concrete evidence to prove one way or the other? Some of the Panther fans were debating it.

Yes, he definitely is, but no, I don't feel like digging for the evidence. Nothing personal; I just don't have time. We here in Wildland know it because we've heard and read the numerous interviews with Risebrough in which he discusses the fact; it's just general knowledge up here.

And anyway, what the heck are you Florida types doing talkin' 'bout our goaltender? Not thinking you might sign him this summer, are ya? Well, fergit it, bucko. We're keepin' him up here. He's from Finland, you know, and he wouldn't know what to do with himself living so close to the equator. His kids would probably get eaten by alligators or rattlesnakes or something. No way he's moving down there. Just ain't happening.

I've been a Manny fan but I believe Backstrom should keep playing until he starts to slump. Stck with the hot goalie!

This summer should be interesting as far as the goalie situation...

Harding looks really good - I feel bad for this kid, because he has the talent to be an all star goalie, just caught a bad break with the groin strain this past summer. Anyway, in an ideal world, the Wild will win the cup, sign Backstrom, trade Manny over the summer, and play Harding/Backstrom in nets.... -Z

What makes you say that?

OK, I have just made a decision. I will never go near another culvert again as long as I live.

I have Backstrom on my fantasy squad, and I just read on nhl.com's game recap that he left last night's game with a lower body injury. Does anyone who watched or listened to the game have any info on the seriousness of the injury?

We won't know how long he'll be out simply because the Wild won't release injury info anymore.
