Marchant

anybody remember how much Todd Marchant made last year? it was under the league average wasn't it? That is why he's a UFA right? 630 CHEDS hall is making an ass out of himself saying that the Oilers could have qualified Marchant.

It is clear Marchant was leaving. The breakout year he had meant he was in line for a ridiculous raise a la Martin Lapointe. Their was no chance of the Oilers signing him - especially not for 4 mil per. Get over it Hallsy you little troll. Brian Hall is IMO a brutal mind when it comes to hockey. Stick with Football Hallsy.

Yeah Lowe could have kept Marchant by qualifying Marchant like he did Smith. It wasn't during this offseason though. It would have been during the offseason before the 2002-2003 season. If Lowe had given Marchant a qualifying offer above the league average salary (about 1.8 Million), then Marchant would still be an Oilers. Lowe instead chose to qualify him at 1.54 Million so that he could leave at the end of the year as a UFA.

Hall was also saying that Comrie wanted to play for the Oilers this year but he of lock out of training camp. I'am sure if Mike would have signed 2 year contract around 3 mil, he would be playing now. Hall is so one sided with his views that it sickens me.

It was a gamble that would have worked brilliantly and saved the Oilers money in the long run had their not been injuries forcing Marchant into the spotlight. Last season made him look awesome when really he is a checker. IMO not a huge loss. Reasoner is as good a replacement.

It's funny... back before I had even heard of HF, I was posting my Bulldogs scouting reports on the Oilers usenet group. At one point, I was accused of being an alias of Brian Hall for some reason.

EDIT: my mistake... I was accused of being an alias of John Short, not Brian Hall.

That would be a compliment. John Short is great.

Comrie offered to come to training camp without a contract, but that doesn't necessarily mean that he intended to play out the season here.

He is the sole reason why I have stopped listening to CHED except for hockey games. Have you ever tried to listen to him broadcast an Eskimos Game. Every five minutes I am ready to throw the radio through the window because of him. Oh and by the way "There's no better deal than a Crosstown deal"

Nothing drove me more nuts that the way he pronounced Lui Passaglia. He was going all Italian on us saying "Passallia". He is more annoying that the Oilers games of late.
