We may not score another goal all year

Certainly looks like it. Well, won't have to worry about watching the team till next year atleast... all these are are pre-season games for the team now.

This team is in a sad state and in a downward spiral. Nobody wants to step up and even attempt to give some effort on the ice what so ever. Come on, getting shutout in back to back HOME games is abysmal.

The worst part is that even if the Oilers suck the rest of the season (and they will) it will be really tough to get a top 5 pick. There are teams out there are even worse then the Oilers. But at least there is something to shoot for.

The Oilers outshot Minny 30-27. The Oilers carried the play most of the night. They made several glaring errors, as per usual, but the shutout, to me, is 100% earned for Harding. Edmonton has several chances - good chances. Harding was great tonight. I don't think the effort was that bad.

The top 10 looks nice in this year's draft. Top 5 would be nice though, and it is important for a team to have goals.

If you think about it, it seemed like since he was back since his injury, every game that we won, Smyth scored in.

So we will be in line for that top 3 pick...

Two games, -8 goal differential. That's the ripple effect. Doug Weight never had it. That's why Smyth is better than he ever was.

The only two players who actually give a fug are injured.. Moreau and Stoll.

Let me ask you this, though, will that goal actually be meaningful? Given the last two games, there is reason to doubt that any will be scored, but even if any are scored you can bet they won't mean much of anything.

Assuming they even want to stay at any price. It only drives down the values for RFAs. UFAs may take it as a sign that they definitely want to hit the road, at least the kind of guys that you'd actually want to have playing on the team next season.

I know... its also assuming we would want to sign anyone who cant score a goal in 20 games...

We've already shown we don't mind signing some of those guys, even giving them raises.

Ok, maybe not guys who will go more than 20 games. I'll need to take a look...

I would say out of the playoffs and now realizing it is the ripple effect. Weight was a summer trade so there could be no ripple effect. Your grasping at straws if you believe Weight is an inferior player to Smyth.

We don't have many UFA's that anybody here wanted to sign anyways. Our only UFA's are Hejda, Sykora, Markkanen, Nedved, and Tjarnqvist. I think the first two are the only ones people want to keep around. I think the biggest problem will be attracting UFA's who aren't on our team.

There was a post yesterday about how to lighten things up here. I don''t know how to do it, but why don't we start a poll, or a thread about how many goals we're going to score in the next 4 games. My bet is on 4 goals total. After the next 4 we'll do it again, someone might get hot and pot 1 or 2.
