The Petr Svoboda hit...

I've been looking for this for months. The hit was when Marc Bureau of Montreal cheapshotted Petr Svoboda at Center Ice, his head bounced off the ice and everyone thought he was dead while blood was pouring out of the back of skull.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2dJOxIBe5LI

I remember watching it (i think on prism)and i was really young, i thought he died and i was watching someone die. Scariest moment of flyers hockey I remember in my 20 years of watching the flyers.

I think it was either Lindros or Antoski who went after him

I was at that game. Very scary moment. Even scarier than the Brad Marsh head slam about ten years earlier.

I think Marc Bureau ended up only getting a 5 game suspension. Should have been way more.

True story, when the game went to the commercial brake while Petr was being attended to, I turned over to watch WCW, in time to see Buff Bagwell brake his neck in a top rope bulldog gone wrong

Nope, it was a 40 year old, helmetless old man that beat up Bureau! Craig Mactavish

It's interesting how the whole team is gathered around him. I don't even think they'd allow that these days.

Judging by the box score, it was Craig MacTavish who went after Bureau.

Then Bureau became a Flyer, I think maybe 2 or 3 years later.

that's alot of blood. the head when cut bleeds probably more than any other part of the body, it just pours out.

I like the announcer that says, "did he hit his head on the ice?"

Duh, what the hell do you think? He's just bleeding all over the place from the back of his head. No, he ****ing cut himself shaving.

To be fair, you can't ban the guy more than any other cheap shot just because the guy fell badly. A 5 game suspension is just about right.

Scary scenes though.

It's funny that I can use one name and completely refute your case...

Didn't svoboda get knocked motionless in 98 or so with a "stinger" as well? He seems to enjoy laying on the ice
