Anybody noticed the great time we had in the offensive zone when Samsonov, Koivu and Kovalev were on the ice at the same time? Ca a juste adonné de même.

WHY, Carbo, WHY don't you just try it?

WHHHHHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!

The Leafs were criticized because they only made one minor move that was not addressing the Team's main problem.
Ironically that's this move that gave them one additional point tonight.

Get it now ?

Andrei Markov

Mike Komisarek
Mark Streit

We can say its a pretty good and solid top-4... But both Dandenault and Bouillon are #5 & #6 d-men on the team and they made our d squad looks pretty weak because they are brutal and pairing them together made them alot worse... 3.7 per years for this pairing of d-men ?

I would spend it on another player.

I missed most of the game. But I'm sure I would have hated Dandenault...because that's what I do.

I feel bad for the Canadiens in this game. They fell down early in what looked like an insurmountable deficit, but found a way to claw back. It's a shame that defensively we couldn't stop the Sabres. Every time we snatched some bit of momentum, the Sabres came back the other way.
they came back the other way where the big save was never made, thats why we are gonna miss

Anyway...
I'm now off to bed.
Those Habs games are quite tiring and frustrating.
I think I'll take a break of them tomorrow.

Yes. I honestly didn't see the angle you were coming at it with until you explained it.

Do you notice when the game was late in the third period, he take the puck in his own zone, skate forward to the Sabres' zone and then he stop along the board push the puck 2 feets in front of him to a Sabres players. When he and Bouillon are on the ice together, its like if someone backstab me with a big knife. -

Personally i dont find dandenault that bad. I mean, he IS playing with bouillon so you cant expect much. but honestly, ive never seen a goalie dive flat onto his stomach like abby did tonight. And i dont think there was 1 shot that abby didnt give up a huge rebound on. LEIGHTON! LEIGHTON! LEIGHTON! (his gaa may be 6 this year but hey, six is better than 8)

I'll add in my own thoughts then I think;

-Aebischer was decent but had very little help from our defence.

-Gorges played well considering it was his first game with a new team. Seems to have good passing skills which is something we need... gives us the chance to explode out, like we did on one play where Gorges sent a long pass tape-to-tape to Kostitsyn.

-Lapierre is fast becoming a favorite of mine. He should earn a third line spot at some time.

-Latendresse looks like he enjoys playing with Lapierre, I think some chemisty is stating between those two. Needs to impove his foot speed.

-Kostitsyn looks good, better than I remember him being. He DOES hit... I missed that duing his last call ups.

-The PP needs to shoot more... it's getting frustrating.

-Samsonov seems to be playing well but isn't getting the bounces.

-Plekanec is getting better and better and better and as much as I like Bonk - maybe Plekanec should replace Bonk as third line center and we let Bonk walk.

-Lapierre-Plekanec-Johnson < next years third line?

-Ferland-Begin-Murray < next years fourth line? Maybe Milroy over Ferland? Both will need to clear waivers.

-Wish I had more beer right now...

once we get better goaltending, we will be scary. Also teams respect our team and find we have a mobile defence core so they try and forecheck us hard. They also understand the potency of our PP.

Our defensive zone coverage was atrocious.

It's painful to watch this team !
Aebi is the new Theodore !
Bouillon is the new Brisebois - minus the offence !

Aebi made a few highlight reel saves.
But the only reason they were highlight reel saves is because he took himself so far out of position !! If he stayed in the net they would have been routine saves (assuming of course that he can still make routine saves).

He goes down and then gets way out of crease to the side of then net.
It's embarassing watching him flop around.

I know our D can sometimes be horrible - but that's why you have a goalie -
to bail you out when the D screws up.

I'm starting to wish they had signed Belfour at the deadline...

Let Halak play from now on !!!

Samsonov - Koivu - Kovalev

At some point in the game (don't remember when exactly), Samsonov, Koivu and Kovalev found themselves together on the ice. This situation happened on very few occasions this season, but everytime it happened I found myself to be very, very impressed by what I saw. Pure offensive skills, complete control of the game, quality plays and shots; what could we ask more from a scoring line?

The season ends in 15 games. Still, we didn't officially see that line once, and I'm really, really tired of it. What do we have to loose? Carbo already said he didn't want to match Koivu and Kovalev because according to him, that wouldn't leave enough offensive punch left to the team, and we would loose in the end. I DISAGREE! Just proove me wrong, Mr. Carbonneau! Show me you're right!

I hate to argue with examples, IMO it isn't really convincing, but since I didn't see that line for a full game, I'm kind of out of arguments to proove my point, so let's go with an example : the 2002 - 2003 Vancouver Canucks' offense was driven by one line : Naslund - Morrison - Bertuzzi. Canucks had Jovanovski - Ohlund - Salo, but we can manage to have great top pairings too : Markov - Komisarek and Souray - Streit.

I'm not comparing Naslund with Kovalev or whatever, I just think it is possible that one line can drive an entire team's offense. I'm not calling this as the ultimate solution, but I do think it COULD be it.

Carbo, give it a try. NOW!

Thoughts?
