I was just wondering what the CBA rules are with regards to contracts if we call up Schremp. Is there a limit to a number of games he can play before it counts as a year towards free agency? Or is it a date thing?
With how the Oilers are playing now, if we could, we should call up Schremp and get him some NHL time, as long as it doesn't cost us a year.
It's been stated in a few other threads that the Oilers have used all of their call ups for the year. Barring injuries, we cannot call up anymore rookies.
Sounds like great roster management to me. Petersen once, Jacques up 4 times down 3 up, Stortini called up once and didn't play a game, also called up and sent down, called up a total of 4 times sent down 3 times, Thoresen sent down and called up twice, Syvret called up once and didn't play a game, called up a total of twice and sent down once. Roy called up once and has stuck with the team. Gilbert called up twice, sent down once. Mikhnov called up and sent down twice. JDD called up once and played 0 games, then sent down.
That's a whole **** load of wasted call-ups. Stortini and Gilbert being returned during the All-Star break was just EIG being cheap ****ers. Then you get Stortini and Jacques playing call-up musical chairs.
In total 3 different players were called up and not given a single game in the NHL with their call-up. Stortini, Syvret, and JDD. 0 call-ups for our most solid AHL player (Brodziak) now we are in a re-build and we can't even get the kids up here because of great roster management. We could've saved 2 call-ups at least by waiving/trading Winchester. This would've allowed us to keep the Jacques/Stortini Merry go-round from happening.
