JS Giguere

Hypothetical now we've got Biron (although it's still a possibility) but would Giguere consider joining the Flyers as a UFA next year? Reason i ask is that there's a supposed NHL fan on my local sides forum who believes he wouldn't even consider us.

Is there something i don't know about?

I don't think he'd sign with the Flyers.

I think one of his reasons might be that he's at a point in his career where he'd be looking to join an already strong team to get him back to the cup finals.

Because he has 30 teams he could sign with and I don't see him picking the Flyers.

30 teams? I dont see Vancouver, NJ, Pit, NYR, Calgary, etc. trying to sign him. Flyers are where the money is...

Doesnt matter really. Flyers are signing Biron. I'd bank on that.

I would absolutely love to have Giguere. He's certainly a few levels above Biron, but there's a very small chance that we would actually be able to land Giguere without offering him a max. contract, assuming he even becomes unrestricted.

Maybe he's still pissed from that game in November? I was sitting right next to the Ducks' bench that game. When he got pulled, he came to the bench and launched his helmet down the hall. It was pretty awesome, I was like three feet away from him.

I don't think Burke will let him hit the market.

nah

i don't care if he doesn't want to come here. we already have our #1 goalie. I'm happy with the recent trade of Biron. We would spend the money better on 1 great forward, 1 great dman, and 1 good forward.

Giguere will never hit the market, that is why we made the deal for Biron.

Giguere absolutely will be hitting the free market. Burke cant afford to pay him enough to prevent him from doing so, and with Bryzgalov, doesnt really need to anyway.Giguere doesnt come to the Flyers though, because he would be splitting too much time with Biron whom you can be certain we will sign after giving up our second round pick (which is just shy of being a first). Guys like Biron and Giguere want to go to teams where they can take over and hold the number one spot. No shortage of such teams out there.

If Biron doesn't want to sign with the Flyers i can see us making a pitch for Gigure, but by the sound of things Biron will sign here and that would make signing Gigure pointless both for him and for the Flyers.

I was kinda talking about if Biron went elsewhere.

well consitering how well(note sarcasm) that Bryzgalov played when Giguere was out with his injury, I would be shocked if Giguere hit the open market IMO. Bryzgalov proved he is nothing more then a backup(at least right now)

Giguere is making 4M right now. The next highest paid impending UFA is Selanne and he's making 3.5M. After that, there are a bunch of easily replaceable players coming off the books. Burke will be able to afford Giguere.

I think a lot depends on how Anaheim does in the playoffs with their goalie. If Giguere is just mortal, I think they let him test the market.
