Did anyone notice that Saku is almost on pace for a career season in points. Best was 71 on pace for 68. However, his +/- not so good.

Koivu has MIA too much this season, the whole 2nd half except for a stretch of games he has been inviable and a liability on the ice...where has he been the last 2 games?

More consistancy from the captain please...especially at his salary, the return is not anything close to as what it should be.

I don't agree with taking the C away from Koivu. But just for arguement sake....if it were to be done, I would see who is going to be on our team next season and have a team vote.

Let the players decide if Koivu should still be captain, not management.

I wouldn't trade him or take away the C. I'd sign a UFA first line center, and have him as a really good second line center and great leader.

If Souray sticks around then I would place the "C" on him. He seems like he is the only one to be interested game in, game out.

The thing is, Koivu being Captain isn't the problem.

Every year since the Cup, Montreal trades away their stars like Mark Recchi, acquires second rate "stars" like Kovalev, finds fillers like Czerkawskit, Dackell, Sundstrom etc etc, takes on players with no concept of team like Kovalev, Samsonov, Czerkawski, has NEVER upgraded their defense core in how many years, and have actually watched good ones leave, and brought in the likes of Traverse or Niinimaa, and hasn't brought in an experienced coach since.

Montreal has become a revolving door of second rate talent, with rookie coaches, and players with questionable attitudes. Monteal is a team of castoffs and thats not a great way to build a team.

I agree we have lacked star talent for sometime but in order to get some talent you gotta give up some talent. Year after year we keep hearing how the dressing room is divided and we see that with the way they play on the ice. Year after year we dip in the middle of the season and then struggle to crawl into the playoffs. Something has to change...

Problem is, maybe that has something to do with the type of players habs management brings in, year after year, and the same inexerienced rookie coaches, every two years.

Carbs obviously has zero clue how to counteract whats happening on the ice. He hasn't been able to adjust to the oppositions game plan. The proof is on the ice. They play the same style whether they are desparate or not and roll 4 lines. Then to bring in questionable attitude, and inconsistent forwards like Kovalev, Samsonov, Czerkawski, Johnson, Dagenais, etc, a inconsistent goalie like Abby or over pay for a useless piece of crap like Theodore, and trade away a guy like Weinrich on the backend who was stabilizing force.

You can blame Koivu solely, but you have to look at the players brought in. And then to replace the captaincy with say Souray, well guess what Souray is already an assistant, with these types of conditions its not gonna all of sudden better with a C instead of an A on his jersey.

I wish Koivu played for a team with some direction, and some fans that appreciated him, his performence at this past olympics is a testimate to him being an elite player.

I wouldn't be totally disappointed if Souray was the captain. But like I said previously, I wouldn't just pull the C from Koivu. I don't think he's doing a bad job and secondly, I think if a change is made it should be the players involved in making it.
