Debbies

Is this guy for real? Does he not know what type of players he has on his team? He has a guy on his team that seriously injured two players and a few more of them are cheap shot artists. Give me a break Burns.

Oh yeah, Hitchcock never plays to the media. I'd be curious to know who the cheap shot artists are on the least penalized team in hockey. For your information Holik and Lemieux have been gone for awhile now.

Hitchcock plays to the media by saying things about his own team, not the opposition.

One of the biggest cheap shotters in the NHL, Mr flying forearm himself, Scott Stevens.

Hello, McFly? Hitch says stuff about his own team! He doesn't say it about other teams. Christ, if anything he goes out of his way to compliment other teams. He did it with the Sens after our playoff series saying that they were the new measuring stick. The team he gets on the most is the Flyers. Wake up buddy.

Cheap shot artists:

Langenbrunner
White
Stevens
Gomez
Rupp ( I have seen Gomez & Rupp in a game pull a lot of cheap shots out)

Oh, this is what makes a rivalry fun. If I were the Flyers, I'd get in Martin Brodeur's kitchen at every turn, and be sure to punish smaller players. Going after guys like Stevenson and Stevens is as pointless as putting a body on Primeau and Brashear.

It's just smart hockey, it's not personal.

Flyers have the edge in special teams. Flyers have the edge in physical play. A pretty dangerous combination: A physical team that can kill off penalties, and score if you try to retaliate. He cant risk the Flyers going on the PP by matching them physically, so he whines to get the refs to watch the Flyers more closely.

NJ is a tough team. They are known for playing hard, but they are also known to be very disciplined and give up the fewest penalties in the league. This isnt the 70's though, and the Flyers are not a goon squad by any means. The attempt to characterize the "Orange Crud" as a dirty team that scrums after the whistle is a bald faced lie. The Debbies fans are going to read this and get all worked up now, mostly because they are too ignorant to watch any Flyers games or too stupid to form their own opinions.

Like Yogi said...

when talking about the Yankees Vs. Redsox, “We've been playing these guy's for a 100 years and they still can't beat us.” Guess who plays the part of the Yankees and who is the Redsox in this rivalry. Devils Vs. Failures, love it!

Thanks, Pete. Glad I could entertain you. I know you don't get much in the way of entertainment since you are a Devils fan. You probably just get alot of sleep being that the games are so damn boring.

Flyers --- Debbies, I love it too. You know, I'm just wondering who is the overall leader in the series since the Devils came into the Atlantic Division from Colorado. Let's have a look-see:

The Flyers lead the lifetime series between these two teams with an 81-65-17 record in 163 games. Oh well.

Uhmm where are you getting that from, since they have been in Jersey the Flyers are 60-54-14, in the last ten years they are 18-34-6.

Nice try.

Where I got it from..

Lifetime Series Between Flyers and New Jersey Devils:

The Flyers lead the lifetime series between these two teams with an 81-65-17 record in 163 games, including a 32-42-7 record in 81 games on the road...The Flyers lost the only game between these two teams this season, 3-2 in New Jersey on October 30 (the remaining four games - in Philadelphia on Dec. 13, Feb. 10 and March 13 and at New Jersey on March 9).

All this talk about past records and games is meaningless. Devil's fans are front runners, except for kids who grew up thinking they always exsisted. They are kids, however, and don't know enough about anything to really make an argument.

The point of the post was Burns' whining. When a coach complains about another team he is trying to block the blame of losing from his team to the refs (see Pat Quinn).

It seems to me that Burns doesn't have much faith in his team.

As for Stevens and cheap shots, if he's so tough why does he wear hard plastic shoulder pads? Why does he go after smaller players? Is it "cool" to try and injure people?

I'm not just talking about Lindros. There was a Maple Leaf and Daymond Langkow who got injured by that pretty little play. You know, the one where two players get on either side of the puck carrier and tough guy Stevens comes in from the blind side with those hard plastic shoulder pads. He's quite a stand up guy.

I really respect how he says he doesn't want to injure people and didn't even look at the Lindros replay, but there he was, looking up at the replay after it happened. He's classy and honest.

Yeah I misread your post, I thought you were suggesting that was the record since the devs have been in Jersey, now I see you were wondering. It's 60-54-14 is the answer, which isn't shocking since we were a sorry shape team in the early eighties. Your 81-65-17 includes the Kansas City Scouts and Colorado Rockies for which I refuse to take responsibility for!

cry me a river. i feel so bad for the Devils and Mr. Burns i really do.(sarcasm noted) hey Burns here is a freaking tissue ya big baby.
But Burns has pulled this crap everywhere he has been Montreal,Boston ect.
he is the biggest whiner in the NHL next to Pat Quinn.
and we are all to believe that the Devils have 20 players on there club that would never do anything to gain an edge no matter what. simply unbelievable.
Here is an idea Burns worry about your own club. focusing on our style of play just make you look what everyone knows what you are. a whiner.

Not quite. He crowned the Ottawa Senators the new beast of the east after your playoff series a wee bit prematurely.

I guess I'd like to hear what whining Burns has done since he's been with the NJ Devils. Enlighten me here.

Unlike our hatred for the Rangers, where I need to see them in burning defeat night in and night out, I like the fact the Philly is good on a regular basis and we have some respect for them as an organization. I guess it's all in the eye of the beholder, but come on Flyer fans, your team has dished out enough goonery to suffer some come uppance. I have been watching hockey for 25 years and I can honestly say that the Flyers and Devils have provided the NHL with some of the most entertainig games that I have ever seen. The one earlier this year was classic.

You couldn't be any further from the truth here. You want to see real complaining. Go visit the Bruins game day threads on here after each and every loss. Nothing but constant finger pointing at the refs through 6 pages that would make a guy like Pat Quinn proud to put on a suit and tie.

What part am I further from the truth on? I didn't say the fans were whiners, I explained what it means when a COACH whines about the other team and what the refs "need to do about it". He's trying to gain a cheap edge. He doesn't believe his team can do it on their own. Can you disprove it?

1) The over-generalizations on Devils fans being front runners.
2) The notion that Pat Burns doesn't have any faith in his team. Thats hands down the funniest thing I've read on here in ages. You can't honestly believe this to be true. How exactly do you lose faith overnight in a team that damn near went the entire 2002-2003 season without two consecutive losses and won the grand prize in all of professional hockey? We lost Nieuwendyk, Daneyko, McKenzie, Smehlik, Rheaume, and Tverdovsky prior to this season beginning and this team hasn't missed a single beat to date. Matter of fact they are better defensively with Hale and Martin learning on the job then they were last season. Why would Burns figure all of a sudden there is no hope in Jersey? You have to realize this is a ridiculous claim.
3) The repeated claims that Stevens primarily goes after small players.
4) The notion that Stevens isn't a stand up character guy. I would wager that in the right frame of mind, you would do just about anything in your power to bring in 1/3 the durable proven leader as a Scott Stevens type player to the Flyers if you seriously want to see a championship brought to Philadelphia.

Precisely what part of his statements are false there? Everything he said is absolutely bang on. You see it as whining. I see it as stating the truth. Jeremy Roenick fired the first warning shot over the Devils bow before this series even started complaining about how boring the Devils are. I'd bet just about everything I possess the Devils will make damn certain he eats those words.

Joe Sakic said it was boring hockey too when you guys tied a few weeks ago. It's not just JR that sees how boring it is. God, I don't know how many times I saw a Devil grabbing a Flyer in plain view. F**king blind officials. Guess they missed the trip on Williams? Nice. You guys are done tomorrow.
