NHL Coach Salaries

How much do these guys make on average? Are they on a year-to-year contract basis?

It depends on the coach.

Bump

Is there a website where we can see coaching contracts and the length of deals?

No there isn't one place. I did a web search all over (about 50 effective links). Wilson is getting the top pay in Toronto at about $1.7mil. Rookie HCs are generally around $600k. Quenneville was looking for ~$1mil when interviewed for the Sharks job. Historical win/loss record is related to pay. GMs make more than coaches.

On a side note, top NCAA HCs are paid over $200k base pay with bonuses that can take them over $400k. This pay level was set so as to prevent NHL teams from poaching them for anything but HC jobs. The inference is that NHL ACs and AHL HCs make less.

Michel Therrien made about $1 mil this year, and will continue to draw a similar salary so for the next two seasons. And, yes, that's despite being fired.

Babcock makes between 1.5 and 2 million per year, and he's one of the highest paid coaches.

What about GM's and Assistant GM's. Is a gig as an Assistant GM or "capologist" a lucrative deal financially (i.e. salary wise)?

I'm guessing GMs and coaches make an okay living but have pretty good bonuses based on how they do in the year
