Bryan Murray tonight

Tonight in the overtime...is it just me or was there really a good reason why Murray played the same 10 guys in the overtime? Pittsburgh played everyone in the OT..why didn't we? Corvo, Neil and Preissing...did not play one shift the entire overtime...this is one of the clear reasons why we will never go anywhere in the playoffs---Murray has no clue how to use the guys he has...I just don't get it. Joe and Tom are offensive defensemen...and they didn't play???

Corvo should have played in overtime.

There's no more playing for a tie, one team is going to win, and Murray should try to do everything he can to win it, or lose it, in overtime and not go into a shootout, because that's a guaranteed loss.

Power Play 1
Heatley - Spezza - Saprykin
Alfredson - Redden

Power Play 2
Schaefer - Comrie - Eaves
Corvo - Schubert/Meszaros

It's not rocket science Murray... Jesus.

I like Murray, he just doesnt know how to make lines.

There's like 8 players who should be in the PP rotation somehow and Murray uses 3 of them and then handpicks 3 other guys least likely to score on any particular night.

Eaves aside (I just can't buy that he deserves PP time when he can barely stay in the lineup right now), changing up the PP units would be nice. Very, very nice.

Eaves definitely deserves to be in the lineup over Vermette at this point. At least Eaves was finishing his checks and causing a great deal of comotion in front of the net. He had a good solid game, drew a penalty which led a few seconds later to Heatley's goal.

and why the heck does he insist on playing Meszaros on the left point and Corvo on the right point on the power play and for the power play only?

you are just taking away those two players best attribute: their one timer

Well, we'll just have to disagree on that.

I actually liked our overtime. We had some solid chances....

Overtime wasn't our problem. The fact they didn't score, or get more chances, was a bonus

The bench was really bad this eve.
One goal was a direct result of shoddy line changing.
I saw at least 2 others that were brutal.
Murray does a line change with like 20 seconds left in the game.

WITH ALL THE FREAKING POWER PLAYS and an amazing scoring
team why does our powerplay look infantile??????????????
The only reason i can think of was an interview with Murray after
a game where he says "the players on the power play have to be
conservative and make passes until they see a high chance move"
WELL this works sometimes, but it looks like other teams have
figured this out and Murray has not adjusted his strategy.
Why not just try to get shots on net and jam for the rebound?
thats how we scored this eve???

All kinds of horrible bounces this game. Alfie had a very hard time with the puck. Redden looked in pain most of the eve.

Kelly was AWESOME, why was he ever moved out from between heatly and alfie? he looked better than Spezza, even got a goal.

Comrie looked like the second coming of Spezza, trying dipsy doodles all over the place (one leading to a Pitsburg goal) when he should just be keeping it simple...

im tired and frustrated and gonna hit the sack

Murray. fire him NOW.

edit: add in the

But he is terrible with his lines. A great creation of his was the Heatley-Kelly-Alfredsson line, so was the Eaves-Fisher-Neil. I think they both need a reunion.

No point now.

If this team doesn't go deep this season he and Muckler will go, likely with some of the core players.

This team must beat Toronto both times this week. It will be utterly inexcusable to lose either of those games.

You guys have a good team, you have the depth and I don't think Murray utiilizes that very well...especially in that O.T.

I agree, overtime was probably the best hockey we played all game. it wasnt Murray's fault we lost this game, he cant control the players lack of effort and intensity in that 3rd period.

but thats the coaches job.
To get the most out of his players.
If he cant do in by the third period of a crucial game,
well then he has some serious team problems

I cant stand when fans say stuff like this, talking like they can see into the future and know whats going to happen when there is no practical reasoning behind it? Why would we get rid of our GM who has put together a solid roster year after year and our core players who have held this team together for all these winning seasons?

Murray coached how many games? and he still doesn't know the value of calling a TIMEOUT. Incredible!

And plus, didn't help the Sens only had like 2 shots in the 3rd period. STOP WITH THE PRETTY PASSES AND JUST GET THE PUCK ON NET!!! Coaching, it's all coaching. He should have been fired 20 games in this season.

What about the leaders on the ice, they play a part as well.

We hear so much about Alfie and Phillips - especially, in how they are great leaders.

Should they not take some of the responsiblity?

Or what about the individuals themselves? At this level of sport, should they not be responsible for showing up for 60 minutes?

Too many variables.

because there are too many fans like myself who are no longer willing to buy/share season tickets just to see our team tank in the playoffs.
I've heard many of my friends say they will not renew if the team flames out this year - I still follow the team religiously but I'm not spending that kind of money just to be frustrated every year.

As for the GM, there are many fans (including myself) who feel he hasn't done a great job. He didn't build this team, he inherited it.
You may be happy with the job he has done since inheriting a talented squad - many judge success based on the post season, and from those of us who do, he is an utter failure.
