Springfield @ Albany (12/12)

I guess it was a 3-3 kind of night. Sadly, in this case the crappy goalie played for the home team
Oh yeah, Foster was back. No one knows how long Suglobov is out for, and no one is talking about what is wrong with his knee
Also, when word came from the announcer that the Devils called up Skrlac...a collective "what??" went through the rather sparse crowd.

Period 1
Albany - Greg Crozier (Eric Johansson, Victor Uchevatov) 14:30

Period 2
Springfield - Erik Westrum (unassisted) 12:24
Springfield - Chris Ferraro (Krystofer Kolanos, Jeremiah McCarthy) 17:58

Period 3
Albany - Joe Hulbig (Matt DeMarchi) 0:22
Albany - Krisjanis Redlihs (powerplay) (Eric Johansson, Raymond Giroux) 8:28

The Devils recalled Skrlac?

Do the Devils really need a fighter for tomorrow?

I can't find a record of it anywhere else, but I'm assuming they wouldn't announce it if it wasn't true...?

Kariya still listed day-to-day? I think this is the 4th straight game he's missed.

If the Flyers ice Fedoruk it's nice to know Stevens, Hale, and White won't have to get caught up with Brashear. Maybe this means Turner's not ready to come back yet.

the 5-minute high sticking major on springfield came from him taking a beating along the boards. other than that i didn't notice him at all.

The Devils gave Skrlac a good look during the preseason so it's not really all that surprising if they did call him up.

How does Crozier look? I was excited when we picked him up last year, and he's got good size at 6'3. Any chance he'll get called up anytime this season?

i think he missed about 10 games with an injury. he's been solid, but by no means spectacular when he's played. i would think that if the devils are short any LWs, balmochnykh might be ahead of him in line for a callup. at least for the time being.

Any chance that Ray Giroux has earned his way up to the Devils yet?

not as far as i'm concerned. he looked good at the beginning of the season, but if anything he's been getting progressively worse. he's getting knocked off the puck way too easily, and he's a freakin' -10, worse than anyone. he's also not doing nearly as well offensively this year. i really don't know what the deal is
i'm a little bitter. ask me again once i actually see them win a game. which may be never.

Maybe he's going through a midlife hockey crisis. I think sometimes if a player see's the writing on the wall (him being just a minor league hockey player) they get dismayed and wonder if it's worth it. And as a result their play reflects it. I know in the offseason he was being penciled in as one of the seven defensemen for the Devils, has to be rough for him to be back at Albany.

You might be right on there with that guess. He had a strong preseason and just about went the entire distance with regards to making the team. Probably would be here if Hale and Martin had faltered.

Yeah he did have a stong preseason, I was at the game when he scored a short handed goal. I know I was surprised when he didn't make the cut.

I didn't think he would be going back and forth after they gave him an "A" in Albany and gave Martin his #7. Brown is also ahead of him on the depth chart.
