Nice stat inferno. Very telling of his "decline" this year. Personally i think he thinks next year will be his last.

Jagr has been noted to have declined the option to play in the World Championships and other homeland stuff during the offseason.

Either one of two things are going to happen in the summer:

He's going to rest up too much and gain more weight than he should, slow down and come into camp out of shape - making next season and his future look very bleak.

OR

He's going to use the time to rehab, recoup and strenghten himself properly and come into camp ready to tear **** up - making next season and his future look very positive.

Of course we'd like to see the latter, or would we? What would you want to see happen? If Jagr is no longer on the team in 08-09' the team most likely will take a leadership and star shift, if not this summer when free agency starts. Is having Jagr beyond next season good for this team in the longrun or would you rather see him finish it up next year?

Imagine an older Jagr on a second line instead of the first line catalyst we know him as... would he still benefit the team in that role?

I'd have to bet on the second option... this is the same guy who trained as a kid doing 3000 squats a day!

If you can do 3000 squats per day, you're not doing enough weight

I've been thinking about this all season long, but didn't make a thread so that I wouldn't jinx it :-p

Jagr has 14 straight seasons with 30+, Gartner has the record w/ 15.

Gartner had 17 seasons if you dont count the lockout year. Then again, Jagr somehow managed to score 32 (in 48 games) that year.

What do you think, Jagr have a shot at the hall of fame?

I'll drive Jagr to the hall myself.

3000 SQUATS?? Is that true, or myth! Thats sick!

I go with the 2nd option, Jagr has been cranky all year because of his preformance, He opted out of the All star game so he could get stronger, the man has a great work ethic and he loves being here, he will play 2 or 3 more years after this season has conculded. I think he will come back strong next year.

Also, I was surprised about his 30 goal a year streak, I had him penciled in for 32 to 34 goals and 70 to 75 assits at the begining of the year due to his injurys and off season surgurys. He could get 6 goals in 2 games if he gets in the right spot!

Funny things happen when a player has surgery. He has enough games to do it in, does he have enough shoulder to make it happen.

He hasn't shown me anything that would lead me to believe he can score 6 more goals this season.

i remember hearing JD and other broadcasters talk about it when jagr was younger... maybe it was 2000/day either way i always assumed they meant squatting with no weight, but still...
