Yeah, blame the instigator penalty.

So rather than get an instigator penalty, Simon decides to baseball swing a stick in Hollweg's face. Which is worse, the instigator or the suspension he's about to receive.

The Magic 8 Ball is not necessary. It is written on the wall. If you can't see it at this point, I don't think any amount of convincing will make a difference in your case.

Its written on your wall.. But thanks for coming to our boards to try to convince me. Now do you have any "writing on the wall" about whether or not Hugh Jessimans last six games have been a fluke or if Shanahan will return this season ???

I don't think you are. But I don't think this is a case where you can say the instigator rule is to blame. If Simon was so enraged by the hit Hollweg threw on him, drop the gloves and get the instigator. It's going to hurt the team a lot less than what he wound up doing will.

exactly. I doubt that Hollweg wouldn't drop his gloves if someone was punching him, so it's a 2 min PP, instead of a 5 min PP and a massive suspension.

the problem doesn't lie anywhere but between Simon's ears.

when shawnda avery and Rayanne Hollweg start hitting people from the front, incidents like this might not happen....Im not defending simon as he was dead wrong, but to question his toughness is a little ridiculous

I think that hardly makes a difference in the grand scheme of things.

how many times did Hollweg or Avery hit someone from behind in the game?

blaming anyone but Simon here is hilarious.

Incidents like this should NEVER happen. This is hockey, not jousting or fencing or baseball for that matter. Oh and real clever with the girl names and i'm sure no Islander players ever hit anyone from behind. Blaming Hollweg for the incident is just ridiculous....

im not blaming him, Simon is at fault 100 percent, but for people coming up here like Hollweg is a choir boy have to be joking...

Thats such a stupid suspension.

Will the NHL ever learn?!?!

15 Games - great we all thought he be out for the season

But only 7 Playoff Games??!? why not the whole playoffs??
They gave in here. I dont agree with this. Whats the sense? why not just give him the full amount?

********

This shows the wrong things IMO.

Outrageous. The NHL is the dumbest organization on the face of the earth. How in the world can you let a guy off that easy after every news organization in the world is calling for the NHL's head after this?

comparing it to the Granato suspension it's a lil to much since Granato hit Wilkenson in the head, while Simon hit Holwegg in the chest but i guess if you take the fact he is a repeat offender it's somewhat fair.

I thought he would have gotten the rest of this year...so it could turn out to be a little light IF the Isles make it to the semis.

Yeah, don't see the point in limiting the suspension to the first two rounds of the playoffs. Why let the guy come back for the finals???
