just looked at some of my posts from last night around the boards...shouldn't have had those extra beers

watching replays it was much worse than I originally thought. I think he should be gone for the season and the first round if those dirt bags make the playoffs. That's about 20 games.

Avery quote on ESPN.COM

You gotta love this guy....

"Let's just see if Colin Campbell finally does something about this stuff and doesn't give him three games like he gave that other meathead from New Jersey," Avery said.

I think the "How long should he" and the "Hes suspended" threads should be merged into one big everyone hates (except True Blue Bleed Blue) Chris Simon thread.

Amen.

I seriously hope this forces the league to take a good long look at what kind of message it wants to send.

I think he should be brought up on charges. He could have killed Hollweg if the stick it him in the right spot.

Things like this are depressing, we don't need this in hockey. Come on, you're a professional hockey player, you know your stick isn't a weapon. It's just a let down that there are people out there who represent hockey for two two nations that will do things like this. There's no defending it, it's absolutely despicable.

singn....I'm not making this crap up:

"On the Hollweg thing.......Simon is out of his mind

That being said......You can only hit someone from behind so many times until you hit the wrong person from behind...Hollweg found the wrong person."

straight from the Devils forum.

"If he "blacked out for a second" etc, why did he need only 5 stitches, not a big cut and why was he on the penalty kill a minute later? Simon was disgusting but Hollweg should win best supporting actor"

Another wonderful post ....this one from the Islander forum.

There's some decent Isles fans, they really shine when something like this happens. But unfortunately you also realize what insane homers 90% of them are. Don't know **** about hockey, just know Isles never lose isles are never wrong etc etc. Pathetic. Just like the Isle fan who was behind the glass right when it happened, stood up and was clapping and cheering ecstatically. Totally disgusting.

And by the way, it was to the ****ing chin. Anything, ANYTHING of decent force to the chin will knock you out, even if just for a short period of time.

I've been knocked out before and had no bruises or cuts to show for it.

haha

i'm sure you can find a few people out there who will say the same thing about jeffrey dahmer.

Nothing would satisfy me more than the isles missing the playoffs by 1 point now. Oh I'd be happier than ever

i was just typing how this threads title needed to be changed and then bam it was so. All i could think every time i tried to read it was 'damn someone was in a rush to make this thread and beat out the rest!'

Complete BS. 99% Islander fans are screaming for Simon's head and hoping that he's never on the team again. It was a disgusting act that should never be tolerated. There are several fans on EVERY team in the league (including yours) that are A-holes!!! The Isles like the Rags are generally "classy" organizations that have a "classy" following.

I' sure there is. But the majority of the people aren't.

One person on the Devs board really isn't anything.

Just listened to Gretzky on ESPN radio and he went into the role of the inforcer with Dan Patrick. Partrick actually defended hockey because they were getting alot of emails making this whole thing with violence and hockey compared to other sports a RACIAL thing.
IM not even gonna get into tahat because its absurd.

Its so sad that the only major news coverage of hockey is when something like this happens. WFAN led off their show with the same thing. M+MM also thought the puck was in "no question" but they dont even know the rule of the puck being completely pass the line which basically demonstrates what we are dealing with here.

I'm sure many of you passionate hockey fans can agree with me, even Islanders fans when I say that the slash was incredibly bad for the game, just like all the other bigtime incidents. It's just another reason to shake our heads when our gret game is depicted wrongly and dissected as a violent, brash sport instead of what it really is - a gentlemans game of skill, courage, toughness and heart. It's so difficult to try and convey what its like to know and breathe the game that you love while the outside world only has negative perceptions of it at times like these.

It really sucks.

Not one of these reports mentioned how great the two games where and that the Rangers jumped into a playoff spot. But not that they would be talking about that anyhow.

These 2 games were borderlining on a classic level, but now they are at an unforgettable level because of this incident and this incident alone. Looking back 4 years from now, every hockey fan (except for us Rangers fans) will look back and see this instead of 2 great games of ultra-competitive hockey.

What a shame.
