OT - Xbox 360

Hey guys...

A week ago, I decided to buy an xbox 360 to play NHL 2007. I got a great deal on a new one (Premium) and started gaming without XBox Live. Then suddenly, im playing Gears of war, just finished the 2nd level and then bam!! it crashes. I restart the console and it give me an E71 error. I close it and then open it up the next day...now it's E79...I take out the hard drive....E71....The things just a week old FFS!! I had to call microcrap and they are sending a box for me to send it back to repair....any of you had problems with yours? (thank God i have my Wii...)

Mine was similar. 1st month I got 2-3x an error that wouldnt let me boot a game. Rebooted and it worked, thought nothing of it. Then within 30-45 days it started happening ALL the time. Waiting for a return box as we speak...

Btw. If it's within the 30 day return period, don't bother calling MS. Bring it back and get it exchanged. Save yourself the BS and such.

How long is it supposed to take them to get you one? The usual 4-6 weeks? Just wondering, because if I get one and it crashes, it's nice to be informed of that.

I had the famous ring of death, but since my 360 DVD firmware is hack and my warranty is done, I repair my 360 myself with a heath gun, and it work perfectly since !!!

Got the same problem 9 months after buying it.

I bought mine at the launch and had to replace it last summer. MS customer service was top-notch, shipped the defective xbox on the Tuesday and got the new one on the Friday (the same week!)... this was incredibly fast!

I kind of started having second thoughts about buying it...

http://www.xbox360defective.com/

Anyway, mine was manufactured in october 2006...and I bought it used...but apparently the guy flashed the firmware and got the sticker off....should I send it back to microsoft anyway? Or should I just go and buya new one at wall-mart and give them the defective one after ...

I'm clearly overusing mine... (we are 3 hard players with different schedules...so it's running almost 24/7)...Some games have bugs that didn»'t appear in the beginning...and it is very noisy now...but all in all...it works fine...I mean it is still a consol....i still remember blowing in my Super NES games cartridges....can't be worst

As much as the Xbox 360 has it's faults, I've never met anyone that wished they'd bought a PS3 instead.

I've had one for about 9 months, it only froze maybe 5 times. It's used a lot and it works well. There appears to be some faulty systems, hopefully you'll get a new one and it's going to work fine.

You guys think I should send it to Microsoft even if I don't have the sticker? Would they ship it back if they dont want to fix it?

Mine has a red light when I turn it on now, purchased it when it was released. Luckily I took a four years guarantee =P Gonna go exchange it for a new one, futureshop better not rip me off.

Buy a new one, put the old one in the new one's box, and return it to the store where you purchased the second console.

If you mean the sticker that says the warrantee is void if removed, then no. They won't fix it, and if the warrantee is void, that means they aren't responsible for shipping and they'll actually make you pay the shipping costs to get it back.

Yeah because they'll never notice that

What's the criminal penalty for petty fraud, anyway

This is not a uncommon occurance, I advise anyone who gets a 360 in the future pay bestbuy or eb games for the warranty, it takes all the hassle out of taking the thing back.

For that amount? More than likely community service and/or a fine. I wouldn't try it, but it would be funny if someone did. Do they actually check the warranty sticker when you return it to Walmart or Futureshop?

No, but when they send it back to Microsoft for credit they'll figure it out.

Fraud charges apparently don't look good when you're applying for a loan.. damned banks!

I bought mine in september 2006. The first time I started it, the red light was flashing with an e74 error, I think. So, I turned it off, opened the slot, put my game in, push the slot back in and it booted... Cannot explain why, I suck in technology awareness. That's one of the troubles I still have with my Xbox 360. However, I can by-pass it, so it's a moot point for now.

The other problem is pretty ****** up. When I play Nhl 07, I cannot save after I play a game against the Leafs. That's incredible. After the game, it just freezes. So, to by-pass that trouble, I simulate all games vs the Leafs. I just pray that I don't face them in the playoffs... I don't want to lose against the Laffs, even in virtual world.

I still like my xbox360, but I am not a gamer. I just need my hockey fix during summer time.
