Flyers @ Habs - Garon in Goal - Dec. 8/03

The Montreal Canadiens are unbeaten in their last five games, but let's hope I didn't just jinx them. With their streak on the line, the eighth place Habs will play host to a Philadelphia Flyers team has been nothing short of brilliant on the ice this season. Their excellence has them sitting a top the entire NHL, coupled with a sparkling 16-3-6-1 record for 39 points. Mathieu Garon will be kicking 'em from between the pipes tonight, giving Jose Theodore a day off after allowing two goals in as many games against the lowly Hurricanes this past weekend. For the Flyers, former Montreal netminder Jeff Hackett will start for the second consecutive game. The classy Hackett is riding a pretty little streak of his own, as he has gone undefeated in his last eight trips to the goal, recording a remarkable 6-0-2 record during that period of time. Well I hope a habs win, but that will be very tough against the best team in the league (in points). Garon will have a lot of shots tonight.

4-2 Philly

This game is pretty important IMO... let's see how the habs do against an elite team, and if they can continue their intense play from the weekend.

Go Ryder! Go Begin! Go Komi GO HABS!!!

Note: quintal shouldn't be in that lineup of yours, jl...

D'oh!

This game is, I agree, huge. Hack has been on fire, and Roenick and Recchi have been real good so far this year. Begin I feel will have another great game for us, but that's a bit of a nobrainer. We have to find a way to shut down Leclair, too. From one Habkiller in Cole to another in Leclair.

Playing with revenge and skating hard are the keys tonight. We have to stay out of the box, too. Philly's PP is #1, and with all those penalties we took in Carolina, we might be in big trouble there. Zednik should be back with Koivu and Ryder, even though Bulis played great on that line.

We get down early, and you just watch those seats empty. The first goal will be huge for us, too.

0-0 After 1.

Good work in the last 1:30 - 0:00 especially from the Bulis - Koivu - Ryder line. I'm not really sure why Bouillon was out on the ice with them, but the forwards were working great for that shift. Nice work by Julien to throw out Begin's line after that, as the Tazmanian Devil went right, deep into the Flyers' zone with....Sundstrom!?!...they threw a hit or two, got dirty, and cycled the puck for a little while. Good way to close out the period. Hackett's going to be tough to beat tonight!

Komisarek and Markov also gave the puck away a behind our net, we were fortunate to clear it out. It was good to see Komi try and track down his man after he lost the puck to him, though. Nice playing by Kilger, too. He let off a good shot from just over the Philly blueline, and was willing to skate and work a little in that offensive zone. I was surprised to see Langer almost squeak one by Hackett. He often gets labelled as a guy who can only drop 'em, but he's an underrated stick handler.

Win or lose we can't ask much more of those habs. It's been a long long time since I've seen every players show up on a given night.

Guy! I bet those marks are gonna be good tonight.

Good job, Ribs. Made a solid rush and red the play to a tee. He impressed me in the 2nd period. Created some space for himself, a thing he wasn't able to do last season.

Before I left work it was 1-0 habs. When I got home it was 1-1. Now I come here and it's 2-1 habs.

Hope they can pot another one or hold on for the win!
