Overview:
The teams will meet again at Nashville on March 29. Wings coach Mike Babcock is optimistic his team's injury picture will improve enough that the team will be intact for the final five-to-eight games of the regular season. Babcock figures a team needs that much time to get fine-tuned. "Emotion gets through one game, but it doesn't allow you to deliver," he said. "The league is zooming. You have to do things at high speed and when you haven't played, it's hard for you." The Wings lost forward Pavel Datsyuk and defenseman Mathieu Schneider late last season. Schneider returned for the start of the playoffs, Datsyuk not until Game 3. The Wings were eliminated in the first round by the Canucks. Babcock said forward Todd Bertuzzi (back) will not make the trip to Vancouver and Calgary. "The (five-hour) flight alone" would be difficult on Bertuzzi's back, Babcock said. Babcock is optimistic Bertuzzi could return after the Wings' trip. With defenseman Danny Markov (upper body) unavailable, Andreas Lilja will play. The Nashville Arena was sold out Tuesday, but 3,800 tickets remain for the next time the Wings are here on March 29. Dominik Hasek will start in goal for the Detroit Red Wings!

Well, yesterday I said they will probably split this series. I'm sticking to that, so I predict a loss. Nashville is really good at winning the second game of a back to back. Detroit, not so much.

Cujo!!!!! Awesome. I was making excuses for no GDT here on the Preds board yesterday. Some guy commented that we didn't even have one up. I said we might need to fire our guy (kidding!!!!) and offered that maybe you thought school/exams was a legitimate reason for the lapses.

Anyway, nice to see one of your patented beauties up. Preds will want/need to prove something although both teams may lack energy. Wings 3-2 in a closer game.

Erat is our only player who can carry the puck into the zone and he is out.

this could be ugly for Pred Nation.

Let's just hope to see a repeat performance of last night, only with Booters actually fighting Tootoo this time...and no annoying train whistle whenever he is on the ice. Dom should play strong, and we need to take these 2 points from them in regulation again.

Let's go Red Wings

Yeah, that was too bad that Erat got injured. I've always liked the 'electronic rat' - I'm sure no one else has thought of that. He's got a great set of skills, but losing a player of his caliber when you're already down a bunch of your starters isn't good. What's worse is that it came from a collision with his own teammate. Bad luck.

Wasn't he leveled/injured by Arnot last night. Maybe Arnott can get Tootoo tonight.

I do not want the Wings to take the 1st place. Let the Preds run the show. The Wings win in OT. Chelios scores his 1st goal of the season.

Hopefully Hasek makes up for his poor outing on Sunday, so I'll say Wings win 3-1.

dont we already have a thread for last nights game? ohhhhh yea i forgot, the great system the NHL has now has us playing 2 gms in 24 hours against a division rival for first place.. ohhhh yea... stupid

all comments aside, should be a great game once again

wings win this on home ice and solidify the thought of us being a ***** of a team to beat in the playoffs..

hudler and fils will make it known they are ready for the playoffs as rookies, making babs mind do circles on who to play

4-2 detroit

Hudler, Lidstrom, Datsyuk, Holmstrom

Kariya, Hamhuis

It's a knee injury but the severity hasn't been disclosed yet. It looked like ligament damage to me but I'm no expert.

reported as sprained knee 4 weeks(sometime after the POs start).

so we are down foppa and erat from the 1st line, hartnell and sully from the 2nd and nichol from the 4th. going with 7 dmen tonight means we will be lucky to get 2 goals. this is slowly becoming worse than last years season ending IR parade. time to close ranks and for guys to step up.

That was pretty funny.

Nah, these guys are learning what it's like to have that pressure of going for the top spot on you, and the kinds of expectations that get built up. It's funny because I think we'd all rather have great teams, but there's some pressure that comes with that that literally wreaks havoc with your emotions. The normal GDT'er was so down (irisheyes I think) he couldn't find it in him to do a GDT. I reminded them that they are vying for the top spot in the NHL overall. That's nothing to sneeze at... but the team has to get over their Detroit hump.

Each team has one of these psychological hang ups. Ours is usually a Western Canada team like the Flames and Oilers. The Oilers can't seem to get past Dallas, but the Wings often make Dallas and Turco their play thing. Doesn't really make sense.

I watched the Sebres vs Pens game and it was a very good game. These games vs the Preds are getting very exciting. If we had Norton, Markov and Bertuzzi in the line then we could have some fights as well. The rivalry won't hit its peak until we get some good fights. Here is the hope Tootoo and Bootland go at it tonight.

Kronwall, Datsyuk or Frenzen levels Tootoo. Maybe Schneider, he did it cleanly last night and got penatly.
Those refs and the league have no idea what the hockey is. Stuar crosschecks the hottest play in the league and gets him injured he does not get a penalty. Schneider puts a clean hit, he gets a penatly.

It seems like the Wings have Turco's and Vokoun's nubmer. The Preds play great and beat many good teams in the league, then when they have to play the Wings, they just choke.

And yet both teams keep winning. If teams are healthy for the postseason the playoffs will be fantastic.

I agree with Anergetic that Detroit tends not to do so well with the second of back to backs. I'm hoping that Dom has a good game and steals this one for us (maybe with some help from the Hudlum).

GO WINGS!!!

I think this game is going to be great despite both teams missing so many players.

Dom will be hungry after getting hammered on Sunday...I expect him to be 1st Star tonight.

Wings 3, Preds 1
