GDT - 'Canes v Devils

The Devils enter tonight's match having last lost last night 3-0 to the Pens. Gionta, Elias and Madden apparently aren't playing.

'Canes are at home with the post season on the line playing a team who played last night. I smell victory.

Plus, I'm 1-0 in lifetime GDTs!

Elias is a Cane killer so good news on that front. We SHOULD be the team with more legs tonight since Pittsburgh beat New Jersey last night. Now all we need to do is go out and finish unlike the last time we played someone on the back end of a back-to-back against Pittsburgh and us.

Glen is 1 assist away from 400 on his career, hopefully he can snag it tonight.

I was hoping you'd start this one after the win last time. Heh.

Good news for Carolina catching a tired New Jersey team missing a few star players. If we can't take them out when they're down a few, we don't deserve it. We notoriously play Jersey hard, so there is that hope.

Bold prediction: If Andrew Ladd plays a good game then Carolina will win. I think we're going to have to get to Broduer in order to get a few past him. By get to him, I mean get in his way and make life hard on him in his crease. Not taking runs mind you, but playing that good and hard screen game that Carolina loves. Perhaps park Williams out front like we did in the playoffs last year and let Broduer take a few cheapies.

if we take the #7 or even the #6 (we're 4 points back) it really doesn't matter if it helps the Sabres or not.

Call me crazy, but New Jersey is the matchup I want for the first round.

If the Devils keep playing the way they have in the past couple of weeks, the Canes will have to push into fifth or better to play the Devils. With all the injuries and poor play coupled with a hot Pittsburgh team, the Devils might not even win the Atlantic, let alone the East.

Another hilarious N&O headline today: "Third pairing is first-rate."

Hmm, I guess getting the most even strength time and matching up against Ovechkin, Jagr and Jokinen the last few games consitutes as being on the third pairing.

Why's everyone saying the Devils are tired? They were off for three days prior to last night vs Pittsburgh, and they barely showed up for that game.

I expect the Devils to come out flying tonight. They always respond well after a bad outing. And we're playing our best hockey on the road. The Devils are 7-0-1 in their last eight away from home.

Elias and Madden will be gametime decisions. Madden said he was probable for tonight's game.

When you play in back to back nights, unless you mail it in, you're going to experience a bit of fatigue heading into the next game usually. That is where the "tired" element comes into play.

Elias and Madden being GTD's means they're hurt and likley won't be as effective as normal even if they play. Needless to say, those players are fatigued.

We'll just have to wait and see if the Devils come out flat or if Carolina is able to use fresher legs in the first period to capitalize. If Carolina wins the first period on the scoresheet, then they should be able to get this one.

No telling what the lines are going to be. Last game they started this way:

Stillman - Staal - Cole
Whitney - Brind'Amour - Williams
Ladd - Vasicek - Walker
Adams - Letowski - Larose

I wouldn't at all be shocked to see Anson Carter sneak his way back into the lineup with the terrible game tht Letowski had the other night though. You never know about these things.

Stillman/Staal/Cole
Whitney/Brind'amour/Williams
Ladd/Vasicek/Walker
Adams/Letowski/LaRose

Wallin/Gleason
Wesley/Commodore
Kaberle/Tanabe

Grahame
Kowalski

EDIT: I lose, but I had the defense. I would actually be surprised to see Anson Carter in if it's only in place of Letowski. I don't think Carter is effective at all if paired with LaRose and Adams.

Try preferences and lowering your speed. I can't get 300k in New Zealand. Thanks for the stream link though, I haven't gotten to watch a game in a long time.

If that score clock stays off, what's the chances of a guy getting a break out of the penalty box tonight?
