He is the only D-man who does not have to clear waivers and it appears that the Blues are going to move a D-man soon.

Well Johnson too, but he is going nowhere.

Did you read this somewhere or is this your speculation? Either way, it needs to happen sooner than later.

It is a little annoying that Wagner isn't getting regular playing time. It would be nice for Polak and Woywitka to get the chance as well.

But until we shift some players, Wagner will continue bouncing between.

It must only be a matter of time before someone gets moved, maybe even 2.

Well, I thought I read that Peoria and Alaksa have a lot of injuries, so it might be out of need to have him down there till everyone's healed up.

“For asset-management purposes, he was assigned to Peoria,” Murray said. “He’s good enough to be here, but it’s asset-management.”

Murray wouldn’t go into any specifics, but it’s clear by the words “asset-management” that the Blues are shopping a defenseman.
This was from Rutherfords blog today, I dont see how him saying "asset management" means we are shopping a defenseman, it just tells me that Wagner is the guy we could send down without the possibility of losing him to waivers. But Rutherford may know something I dont, so Ill just keep quiet. A good portion of the blog also goes into how tradeable Backman, Jackman and Salvador are.

Wags is Back!

Per the Blues' website.

I guess JD told Murray we're done losing games showcasing guys for trades or playing inept vetrerans hoping they "find it." I doubt this means they're making a trade right away but Wagner brings a dimension we dont have on the backline some nights (completing an outlet pass or getting a shot on net from the point).

I love this move. Finally somebody in the blues organization noticed that things weren't working(i.e. the seven game losing streak). Time to start switching it up!

I am hoping this means a trade of Backman.

I concur.

Though I wouldn't be surprised to see it be Jackman.

Me either, they need to make him an offer and if he doesnt take it they need to move him so he doesnt walk for nothing in July.

With 8 healthy defensemen, you gotta think, there has to be a trade on the way. Other wise, those rumors of McKee on waivers is true. I hope not, say goodbye to Jackman and I'll be happy.

Strickland mentioned something in his blog a couple days that the Blues could waive McKee to get his contract off the books, but I think it was just Strickland throwing different options out there, nothing to write home about.

Strickland started the rumor, I dont know how 1 healthy scratch=waivers, but hes closer to everything I guess. And I even question whether or not he was fully healthy, he does block an awful lot of shots, maybe one just hit him the wrong way and Murray didnt want to risk it.

I don't know if anyone would claim Jay....maybe, but it sure isn't a certainty.

I think it's amost a certainty that a team would pick up a solid defenceman like McKee for only $2 million (only less than $1 million for the rest of this season).

I hope that Andy is way off here, and that doesn't happen.

I think McKee would get snapped up quick! Good to see Wags back! Time to move on Backs or Jacks (or Walt, again?)

Didn't think about that. Forgot to figure out what percentage of his contract would be "payable" if you will.

For $2 million, yeah he'll get snatched quickly.

McKee would be snatched quick. Most likely place, yep you guessed it, Buffalo. They love him there, but not for $4 mil. $2mil? duh. I have heard it by more than him but I pray its not true. I like McKee, he is critical to our PK's first line. He blocks A LOT of shots and though he hasn't played up to what we expected him to when we signed him, he's played well this year. Better than Jacks Backs and Brewer. His main downside is his lack of puck movement. I hope its a trade in the works though.

I was on Brewer early in the year, but he's played as well as I've ever seen him the last 5-10 games, despite the results. He still makes mistakes, but he's been hands down our best defenseman lately.

But I agree, make a move on Backman (underperforming, though hes also improved) or Jackman (questionable signability and hes seen better days, as well). Hang on to Mckee, it wasnt the best signing but at least he's locked up for 2 more years, with prices expected to escalate this offseason.

Wagner should be in our top six right now. A move should be made. I'd rather see the Blues snag a young player, but wouldnt mind another first round pick, especially in a deep draft. Maybe a package deal? Marleau unhappy in San Jose...underperforming Visnovsky in LA...these are crazy scenarios but Boyes for Wideman looks like a helluva deal, have faith in our management team. Our biggest weakness is our power play we need to do something to upgrade it.

I think a lot of people are expecting too much of our young guys next season, I see Oshie stepping in and being able to handle the transition to the NHL, but wouldn't be surprised if Berglund took a bit to adapt his game to the smaller ice surface and more physical north american game.
