Felix makes a good point above, as does 210. Sejna still has lots of potential, but he was rushed to the NHL. And yes, I was one of those who thought it as a good idea, and will gladly eat some crow over it now (pass the salt, please).

Rushing Shkotov to the NHL won't do him or the Blues any good. Better by far to let him follow the Nagy development path -- kick it in the QMJHL, play a year at Worcester, then up to the NHL.

Besides, from all indications, there won't be an NHL for Shkotov to play in next year, anyway.

Where'd you see that Belle was a +2... looks like he wasn't on the ice for any of Canada's goals.

Sorry, i meant in the tournament so far. He was listed as a +2 under the plus/minus leaders. And i dont htink it has changed, because i remember tsn saying that canadas top 2 d-men were out there for the first 2 goals.

If i read the article right the swedes outshot the russians 35-20. That would make barulins S% for this game 0.914. And 58 of 63 for the tournament, giving him a 0.920 S%.

Another game, another small bit of ice time for Shawn Belle. Durocher apparently doesn't trust the scouts when they say that his defensive play has drastically improved. Either that or his defensive game was horrid before.
That being said, Belle played another steady game for Canada and jumped in on a couple of rushes, one of which would've turned into something serious if Colliton had handled it properly. He was big again, pushing around forwards in the defensive zone, but he looked a little passive right around the Canadian net. He showed signs of busting up the ice with every possession, but retreated at proper times. Perhaps his defensive game has always been the same, he's just a little tenative to "Bryan Berard" up the ice.
One interesting thing that Pierre McGuire said when Belle had led a charge up the ice was, "This is the time when you should put the reins on Belle". At that point of the game, it was 5-2 Canada and the Swiss looked nowhere near playing effective catch-up hockey. That led me to yell at the TV, "This is the time when you should let him loose you idiot!". I'm starting to hate that guy.

FYI - Konstantin Zakharov is back from the tournament and playing again for Moncton. He had a goal and assist in each of two games this weekend.

The swedes were outshot by the russians 26-29. That would make barulins S% for this game 0.884. And 49 of 54 for the tournament, giving him a 0.907 S%.

So far, Belle and Shkotov have an assist. And Canada and Russia are gonna win their games. And Belle's speed is tremendous today. He has carried the puck in several times with no one even coming close to touching him. The tsn guys are saying he will definately be a better pro player than junior because of his skill set. The same way bertuzzi panned out. Its nice to hear them talking him up for a second.

I watched Canada vs Ukraine and i know the game was a mismatch to say the least but Belle's skating ability is incredible.

Note on Shkotov from Russian Prospects --

The OPS line was once again Russia’s strongest, with Alexei Shkotov leading the way. He was all over the ice for most of the game, almost scoring his first goal after skating around a defenseman, but then unable to fake out the goaltender.

That's not a good sign that he's been benched. Hopefully he gets back into the starting lineup.

Don't jump to conclusions. They were playing Austria. In all likelihood he was benched to give the other goaltender some playing time and not because of poor play.

I didn't really get a chance to watch the game yesterday (like it really mattered), but it was on the big screen at work so I caught a couple of minutes here and there.
From what I saw, Belle was indeed involved more in jumping up ice. As I had hoped, Durocher split up the tandem of Seabrook and Coburn and paired Seabrook with Belle which is what I assume gave Belle more confidence to jump into the play. Other than that though, I have nothing else to say, except that a pairing of Jackman and Belle a couple of years down the road looks like a pretty good idea. Maybe the Blues really are going to emulate the Devils . . .
