Decipher this 2006 NHL Mock Draft

This is taken from "Washington Capitals: Under Construction, 2006 NHL Draft". It looks like a "mock draft" that was in Georges McPhee's office the day before the draft. It's pretty tough to read but I think someone will be good enough to list the picks anyway:

Sounds interesting.

For those who haven't watched that CSN piece you should. Not sure if it is available online somehow but it was very interesting and had some funny parts.

Another interesting piece of info is that Boston had offered the 5th and 37th for the 4th overall pick and wanted Bäckström.

I think Kessel is three and Backstrom four. I can't read six, but Mueller is the only other guy that is noticably missing at the top.

It's very interesting... especially the 2nd part.

McPhee says that Backstrom is better than Staal (Twice).

They had Kessel ahead of Backstrom, but with both on the board they took Backstrom?

SInce they had the teams names beside the pick, maybe it was a Mock and they were trying to predict who each team would take and not necessarily how they had the players ranked.

If you watch the video though, it's pretty clear Mcphee is very high on Backstrom so I'm guessing that was a mock list of who they thought would go where. When both Backs and Kessel are still up, Mcphee asks Boston if they want to move up and gets offered the 37th pick. Boston say they are going to take "the Swede" and Was refuses.

In the video it seems they have Backstrom as high as no.2 on their wish list. Mcphee says he likes him better than Staal.

Thanks for that video btw. That is very good stuff. I like how Mcphee & co. pretend to deliberate over trading down and giving up "the Swede" and Mcphee goes "did I ever tell you look marvelous?" The other guy goes "I'll cover the mike to make this look official."

Backstrom has yet to play in the NHL.

Id still take Backstrom long term over Staal.

agreed. Not that Staal is bad but I really like Backstroms game he doesn't really have much of weakness.

I like the scene where McPhee breaks the news to Ovechkin that he's announcing the pick.

The list was how they thought things would go at the draft.
