Columbus doesn't have their second (traded with Sillinger to Dallas for Sydory). Wright is one of MacLean's favorite players, I doubt he gets moved anytime soon.

Yeah, and its not like the Isles have need for anymore 3rd/4th line energy guys. Still, it is reasonable under the terms that Peter described (if Isles are desperate to cut salary).

The most unrealistic of those deals is the Chi-Phx.

Wright's 30 to Parrish's 26.

I don't see the nyi trading Parrish for an older, less productive player.

and Newsday's reports that the nyi rejected the Thrashers offer of F. kaberle for Parrish, shows they aren't at the point where they'll take anything to just dump salary.

Not advocating such a deal, but I think you are selling Wright a bit short Crew. Character guy, leader. Sometimes those types of acquisitions can help a disfunctional lockeroom as much as on-ice contribution. (See: Linden and Langdon last two seasons in Vancouver.)

Good call on Wright. He is a fan favorite in Columbus, and he is a very, very good third liner.

However, he might be a little bit similar to Jason Blake.

I think that the 'Bus could be cajoled into moving Sanderson and a pick/prospect for Parrish though.

That woundn't save the Isles a dime and, frankly, I'd rather have Wright. At least Wright comes to play every night....

From a Montreal POV, done (although the 5th pick isn't necessary IMO).

From a Habs POV, NOT done. Although Rivet has struggled for the most part this season, he still has relatively high value around the league. Todd Harvey on the other hand, if I am not mistaken has spent the most part of this season in the minors. An older, more expensive version of Steve Begin in my opinion. You'd be lucky to get just the 5th Rounder.

these are all desperation deals that might be made at the deadline, Peter dude. none of them really make sense here and now.

Once Turek is back and healthy, #2 looks like a great deal.

That pick might need to be lower though. Maybe a 5th; not a major issue though.

Isles need on ice help as much as they need to improve the lockerroom.

How many 3rd liners do they need?

Sanderson's name came up in the offseason and the isles weren't interested in paying him(or S. Kozlov) $3m a yr.

From a Hawk Fan on 1 & 2

#1 Hawks would give a 4th rd pick for Ference not a promising player like Vorbiev

#2 No interest, Passmore's just as bad as McLennan and we keep our pick

Interesting thoughts.

What is the ChiHawks view on Vorbiev?? It appears to me, a non-ChiHawks fan on the sidelines, that Vorbiev has reached the "I think we goofed" level and may do better in a different town. Hawks need a
d-man and Ference is no worse than your bottom 3.

McLennan is head and shoulders better than Passmore. I don't think you fully understand how well McLennan has been this year for Calgary. That said, once Turek comes back Calgary has to trade a goale. And Chicago needs a reliable back-up...which McLennan is.

How are these desperation deals???? They are "minor" deals to be sure but desperation??? How so???

IMO, they meet the needs of teams for the now. Chicago needs a
back-up goalie NOW. Islanders want to dump salaries NOW. Columbus needs another scorer NOW. Chicago needs a defenceman NOW. So again...how are these desperation deals?

because Chicago doesn't want to dump a good prospect for an iffy defenseman NOW, the Islanders don't want to trade scoring NOW, the ISlanders don't need any more good 3rd liners NOW, and Calgary still needs a reliable backup NOW.

LATER, these are all possibilities. i don't see them happening right NOW.

Isles rejecting the Leafs recent attempt at Peca and the Thrashers recent offer for Parrish, isn't the look of a team that has to move salary NOW.

Maybe Wang dropping his Nets bid last week, means he's no longer pressed for immediate cash.

What evidence do you have that the Isles are SO desperate to unload Parrish's 2 million contract that they will essentially give him away for a 2nd rounder? Not saying it can't happen, but you are making so very strong assumptions here. I don't think any of us really know what is going to happen with the money situation on the Island.

That said, ATL's top offer for Parrish was reportedly Kaberele. That should give us all some insight into how low Mark Parrish's trade value has fallen.

Point taken (again :p ). Just thought you were selling T. Wright a bit short as far as his assets.

Hawks are going nowhere but the top 5 in the draft this summer.

Why deal potential (Vorbiev) for a 5-6 dman. Hawks can call up a 5-6 dman from minors. Ference doesnt turn this team around - so why deal?

McLennan is not the future. Passmore is not the future. Leighton and/or Anderson will be the future. Hold the fort until T-BO gets back in Feb. Why trade for a backup goalie when you have Passmore who has done this role for 4 years.

Im not ripping your deals, its just that the Hawks are going nowhere fast. There IS no urgency to make deals if your the Hawks.

Your offering a glass of water to a drowning man.

Agreed. As much as Rivet's play has been inconsistent at best this season, i wouldn't trade him for a fringe NHLer like Harvey. The pick just makes it that much worse.

And yes i fully understand that Rivet is overpayed at that would seriously hurt his trade value, but if Harvey is the best we can get, i'd hold on to Rivet and hope that he turns a corner and returns to his past solid self.

T1---Ference could have been had for a couple of pucks earlier this year, Vorby's up swing is too good

2)The hawks have been offered better G-men for less and turned it down

3)Harvey has been on waivers twice this year--nuff said

4)It will take more then a drinder to get Parrish--they want a good prospect coming their way

If the 5th was excluded, I'd *consider* it. Not sure I'd do it but I'd consider it. Harvey really does seem like a fringe NHLer right now but I've seen him be very effective in the past. Add Rivet's contract...

Harvey's injury history is really a mismatch for the Habs though. They need players without that kind of track record.
