I see there are 14 Kelly Hrudey fans on HF. (Don't lie, all those who voted Weber were swayed by Hrudey's arguments on HNIC)
It's actually pretty close. Right now I give the nod to Dion, but Weber is turning into a great dman. (As a sidenote, friggin Nashville, they already have one of the best D in the league, but are going to have a top 4 of death in a few years. It will be scary, but it shows how important drafting is.)
It's tougher for Shea to put up the points though because he doesn't get much PP time behind Zidlicky & co. He still gets 2:30 per game, but Phaneuf is getting double that. (5:35) Phaneuf also gets more PK time, but I think down the line you'll see them put up similar numbers and play close to the same number of minutes. I think Phaneuf will still be the better player, but the gap will get narrower as time goes by. Neither is a good defensively as they are made out to be, but they both have the grit, hitting and hockey smarts to be effective dmen right now, and they will only get better as the mature.
