Paul Maurice?

Now, I have never been a fan of the Coach/GM dual role, though Sutter has been doing it well this year.

However, with Maurice now out of work (and likely not for long) should Sutter make a play to replace himself with a similar styled coach and very well respected hockey man in Maurice?

Do the dollars work for the organization? Would it cause too much of a change in the chemistry?

Thoughts?

I'd be amazed if Sutter gave up his coaching role so quickly especially while the team is doing well. BUT, I would also be surprised if Maurice is unemployed for long. My guess.....he ends up in Columbus.

I wouldn't mind, but not during the season IMO. When Sutter steps upstairs it will be during the off-season IMO. I doubt Maurice will be around come the off-season though, but ya never know

Why?

Jim Playfair is purportedly the next head-coach-to-be, and given his track record to date with the Saint John Flames and now the emergence of a solid defence corp which he helms, why should the Flames look outside the organization?

Jim Playfair is one of the team's best assets. Sutter would have tossed him when he took charge if it were otherwise.

If Playfair doesn't inherit the head coaching gig, trust me, other organizations will lure him away.
