Very surprised

At the response to the first question. I have always heard the same thing...players choose not to play here. I guess it's a different story whern the team is doing better?

hahaha thats a HUGE gap between Avery and the next player for most hated player in the NHL. I love it, though I do not see why he is also the most overrated..

Up here in Canada on TSN... One of the hockey guys (Think it might have been Bob Mckenzie) said that Avery was the BEST acquisition of the whole year for ANY team. Maybe that's why some players feel he's overrated.

Well done with the smilies JSN - gave me a chuckle.

The one thing I wonder is based on the format of some of the questions, were questions like "Who is the most hated" a fill in question or multiple choice?

Either way, Sean Avery is clearly the winner.

Anyone else find it funny that one person responded to the question "What's the worst thing about your job?" by saying "Cam Janssen"? My roomate just pointed that out to me....

Maybe only in the dark ages. Think about it, who wouldn't want to play in the "greatest city in the world". There's a reason why so many people from all walks of life come here in general. Sure it's not the biggest hockey town you could choose, but is there a better place to be on your off days?

I think that's exactly it. Players didn't want to play here three years ago, because it was obvious to everyone that the organisation hadn't known what it was doing for years. The Rangers could coddle their players all they wanted, no-one wanted to play for guaranteed losers.

The shock of the veteran dump before the lockout, followed by last-year's success in the regular season has probably changed things somewhat. Plus, you still get to play and live in New York for an organisation that, by most accounts, treats its players very well, off the ice.

.

I can see the point about Avery being overrated.

He's a 3rd liner that has been playing 2nd line minutes out of necessity. He's a very high-profile player in that his antics are as much (actually more) publicized than his ability would dictate.

I still believe we need a 1st line center so that we can slot Nylander at his natural #2 spot and Avery at #3

Straka - Briere - Jagr
Shanny - Nylander - Prucha
Cullen - Avery - Callahan
Hollweg - Dubinsky - Orr

Dubinsky would move up to take over for Nylander when he is either traded or retires.

Hossa and Ortmeyer can be traded for a better defenceman than either Malik or Strudwick or simply to replace Pock who will not be back next year. He's a UFA that's been dicked around here in NY and there's no doubt he leaves for greener pastures

The SCARY part is that I got ALL of those players on my fantasy team...except Kubina(had him in the past) and Jagr. Says something about my team ha

But come on now, Avery is NOT overrated, neither is Savard. Richards ,maybe.

Does it surprise anyone that Avery got voted overrated. Look how many Hated votes he got, you can create any negative category and people would vote for Sean just because they don't like him. The difference between the 1st and 2nd place votes for most hated is absolutely fantastic, makes me love Avery even more and I didn't think that was possible

MSG ice does suck. It's always warmer in there than most arenas.

It really doesn't make much sense. I would say that all of most of those players are underrated. Some of them maybe be overpaid, but not overrated.

Those that picked Jagr are probably unbelievably jealous of him. I don't see how he can possibly be overrated

As for Avery, I guess he would be a natural choice for many. In my opinion he's underrated

Funny, too, that the majority of the votes for Richards came from the same "Eastern Conference team," according to THN.

he's kind of a little weiner, I'm not shocked by that.

Shanahan getting two votes is a little puzzling.

and the whole "Hollweg is one of the most hated players in the league" routine that Flyer/Islander fans were trying to force down our throats doesn't really match with this poll.

Quote:
Who is the most overrated player in the NHL?
11) Daniel Alfredsson, Patrice Bergeron, Joel Bouchard, Jason Blake, Martin Brodeur, Anson Carter, Zdeno Chara, Mike Comrie, Peter Forsberg, Dominic Hasek, Nikolai Khabibulin, Alex Kovalev, Matthew Lombardi, Roberto Luongo, John Madden, Evgeni Malkin, Willie Mitchell, Chris Neil, Alexander Ovechkin, Brendan Shanahan, Bryan Smolinski, Ryan Smyth, Eric Stall, Mats Sundin, Alex Tanguay, Tim Taylor and Doug Weight (1) 0.5%
I see Tom Poti had a vote. don't you have to be rated to be over-rated?
