brent burns

Its looking like burns is turning the corner... glad minny has left him in one position so he can excel.

Do you see him becoming an offensive force? he was drafted 20th overall in that crazy 03 draft. is he capable of being the ppqb in minny? 40-50pts?

or am i just watching the odd game where he is playing well?

No, the guy has finally (just in the last few weeks) blossomed into the kind of player some of us were hoping to see for the last couple of years. It looks like it finally "clicked" for him. He most definitely has the potential to be an offensive force from the blueline - he's got one hell of a shot. I don't know if he's the right guy to run the powerplay, at least not at this point in his development, but he's definitely got the goods to be a top two-way defenseman. 40-50 points is well within his range by the time he tops out.

To be honest, i'm sort of glad he was put into the forward position a few times, it really develops his offensive game.

I agree. I think that he's got the potential. With Rolston, Johnsson, Foster and Nummelin for competition, someone will need to go cold. Of those four, I think only Johnsson compares to Burns defensively. Brent has broke up so many clear chances with his good anticipation, great acceleration and extendo-stick. If he does get more PP time, it'll guarantee fewer shorties against us. Furthermore, once teammates get used to him he can sneak down for backdoor chances faster than only Rolston ... his acceleration is awesome. I also agree that he's developing a bomb of a shot.

Basic agreeance with everything in this thread.. Burns has been a standout to watch in the last month, now it's Foster's turn for it to 'click'

Burns is making Foster's role obsolete- He does everything Foster can, but better.

Bottom line tho, Burns has scary potential.
