Most annoying announcer??

Trying to be as unbiased as I can be, but the Sabres play by play guy is the champ hands down.

He sounds like a screetching chicken. I can't imagine being a fan of a team and have to endure that on a regular basis.

I realize that it wouldn't feel the same if it was my team he was announcing for...... it would feel worse because you'd have to listen to it game in and game out.

Briere just scored and it sounded like a rusty european ambulance was driving around in a circle in my living room. Ugh!

Gary Thorne is number one in my book.

The Colorado guy is awful. The Buffalo guy is awful. If you've never heard the radio PBP man for Tampa, well, do yourself a favor and don't.

I hear ya ... His name is Rick Jeanneret. Here in Minnesota I was
casually watching the same game on Center Ice and his call on the Briere goal make my wife yell at me to turn down the volume on the set. Also, my cat got frightened and left the room.

Having grown up watching more Sabres games than Rangers, Jenneret's pretty annoying, but you can get used to him quickly. Since I've moved to Erie for school I'd have to say that Pittsburgh has the most annoying announcers. Those guys are very excited to finally have a decent team. Giant homers.

Oh man, Jenneret. Hands down. No question, no contest, no debate. I have to mute the TV when Center Ice has the Sabres home feed. I can't stand him, at all.

These two comments made me laugh out loud, and I'm not even drunk right now.

The BEST bad announcers are the Chicago Cubs ones. The guy is just SO ****ing depressed when the Cubs start to lose, that you can obviously tell he's drinking. When they do good, he just seems so happy and cheery. It's just hilarious listening to those guys.

Not a play by play or hockey announcer for that matter but I'm listening to Billy Packer calling the UNC-USC game and I can't stand the chump.

The funny thing is that upstaters worship Jeanneret. I find it astonishing as he is a clear and outright homer and he is obnoxiously loud ... then again, there are Rangers fans who think Joe is doing a good job replacing JD ...

RJ is loved in Western NY, but I can understand why other fans don't like him. It's an odd thing b/c Sabres fans consider him the greatest announcer in general. It's just what we're used to. To be honest, I find all other U.S. announcers extremely boring. I like the Hockey Night in Canada announcers though for the most part. But RJ is loved. CD's of his most famous calls are purchased by many.

One thing I don't quite understand is the opposition to a 'homer' as an announcer. Frankly, I WANT my teams announcer to be biased. I want him to get super excited about the team and whine about the refs. That's what regular fans do. I want my announcer to be a fan. I find 'fair and balanced' announcing extremely boring.

No doubt in my mind Jeanrette is absolutely horrible. I've been complaining about him forever. In my mind the absolute worse. A homer through and through. The best play by play man IMO was Marv Albert when he did the Rangers on radio. That seems like a hundred years ago now. As for Micheletti--he's a bit wooden at times--but he does know the game.

Even Still, I would be willing to wager that if you were a Sabres fan you would love RJ!
