Orty A Scratch?

Am I seeing this right, Jed Ortymeyer has been scratched the last few games?

I love the results, but it's weird I never thought I would see the day when scracthing a player like Ormeyer would help the team.

He is a great defensive player, a penalty killer, who has speed, but I take it there were chemistry problems with Straka Nylander Jagr and we wanted to give Callahan a chance, plus we need both Orr and Hollweg leaving Jed the odd man out.

My question, is this a long term thing or do good teams normally platoon role players because as much as I like depth, given our need to develope or not rot players like Prucha, Callahan, Immo, and Dawes while re sign Shanny and upgrade with Briere, plus the 4th line, what do we do with all these bodies?
You can't dump an Ortymeyer, he offers too much defensive value but you can't not play the youth or bench Shannahan or mess with chemistry, not have enforcers, toughness, grit, or scoring.

I look around the league and players of his caliber don't sit.

He was day to day with a knee injury and he sat for a game (Friday?) It's fine because he wasn't playing that well anyway.

He missed one game with an injury. That's it. Not sure what the big deal is here.

well, strudwick CANT play in the playoffs, so there is 1 roster spot.

Lets assume for our 23 man roster the following are locks:

1 Jagr
2 Straka
3 Nylander
4 Shanahan
5 Avery
6 Prucha
7 Betts
8 Cullen
9 Tyutin
10 Malik
11 Rozsival
12 Mara
13 Girardi
14 Lundqvist
15 Valiquette/Weekes

which leaves us 8 total spots left to choose from:
Pock Rachunek Hossa Isbister Callahan Orr Ortmeyer Hollweg

those are 8 bodies, all should make the playoff roster.

As far as who starts, it all depends on health, lets see if everyone is healthy, then we can make those decisions.

I still say Isbister has to be the odd man out in all of this.

I see Hossa as an upgraded version of Isbister (in that he can actually put the puck in the net PLUS do everything else Isbister does). Isbister on any other line than the Jagr line is pretty much useless. So yeah, he has to sit when Hossa comes back.
