GDT 4/1 - Canes @ Panthers

Early delay-of-game penalty leads to a PP rebound goal for the Panthers

EDIT: Brind'Amour - Williams - Whitney are broken up again to try and spread the wealth. Didn't do much in the past, but maybe it will today?

Is it wrong that at this point I would have ZERO problem with this team losing out and winning the draft lottery to get as high a pick as possible?

I don't expect that will be popular, but the guy who would have moved Whitney at the deadline is down.

Will be interesting to see if we fold now.

This team is a joke right now. We might as well have Craig Kowalski in net because it's not going to make a ****ing difference one way or the other.

This team has folded. Not a bit of confidence in any of our players and it shows. They're playing like they're eliminated already and after this one, it will likely be true.

I turned TV off, can't watch this anymore. What an awfull team. It's either that or they are purposely trying to lose to get better draft picks.

I would have made the same move Wood. In fact I had been calling for it a while before the deadline. Obviously since we were still in the playoff picture I was bashed left and right for it. Fact of the matter is, this team doesn't have the same hunger as they did last year. A little humiliation might be the best thing that could happen.

I don't want to hear any more garbage about how I should be happy just to be competing for a playoff spot in the last week of the season; few have suffered as long as I with this franchise.

This season shouldn't be good enough for anyone.

I held out hope for most of the year that they would flick a switch and go on an extended 0.750 run to get in and be dangerous. By the deadline, there was enough evidence that it wasn't a championship team and I started thinking about the future.

To be honest, even after the deadline I thought we would get in right up until the Philly game. Down the stretch, we definitely had the softest schedule. The Habs, Leafs and Rangers stepped up to their credit and we fell apart along with the Isles, who have a significant injury to blame.

I dunno, the whole thing still doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

I think the only team that they have a realistic shot of.. depassing (?! ) is Florida? Which would give em the 10th pick. I think.

It really doesn't make a lot of sense to me at all. This is easily the most talented team to miss the playoffs since the Devils did after their cup win. I just don't get this team. There's no chemistry, no teamwork, no "never say die" attitude and definitely not the explosive offense they showed last year. Part of that has to do with the fact that the refs aren't calling the game the same way they were last year for sure, but to use the refs as an excuse is lazier then this teams play. This is entirely of their own doing and they need to use it as inspiration in the offseason to make sure it doesn't happen again next year. There's no reason this team shouldn't win the division next year. No injury excuse, no "Stanley Cup Hangover" BS, just them going out to prove that this year was the fluke, not their Stanley Cup run.

What a shock. I think acquiring my dog would have been a better use for a 5th round pick.

All you can do at this point is laugh, pop in the championship dvd from last season and forget this year even happened.

Cory Stillman lets a puck bounce over his stick with 30 seconds of five on three time and we don't even get a shot on goal with that good of a chance. That's indicative of how bad the powerplay is right now. How it's not ranked dead last in the league is beyond me.

Top 10 pick, here we come. I don't see us winning any more of our remaining games with this style of play and frankly if they lose this one, I don't want them to. At least get a better shot of getting an impact player in the draft if we're going to miss.

I can't even call them a team. Teams tend to have chemistry and work with eachother, this bunch has done anything but.

I just have this to say at this point:

LOGAN COUTURE *clap clap clapclapclap* LOGAN COUTURE *clap clap clapclapclap*

That still wasn't a bad 5th round gamble.

It is too early to say just after one season, especially after the one where team won the cup... but would it be just me who is losing confidence in Laviolette?

I haven't, and probably won't, lose confidence in Laviolette until he has proven to me beyond a shadow of a doubt that he can't turn this ship around. I'm talking about four or five years time. I think a decent powerplay coach would be a big time improvement and a decent powerplay quarterback would be the same, but you can't pin this one totally on Laviolette.

I mean, last year we wouldn't have traded him for any of the other 29 coaches in the league and he's still my pick to right this ship. He's a great coach.

I wouldn't be the slightest bit worried if that hadn't been one of the things I heard was a problem in New York.

CF is right on the money there. If there is ANY coach I would fire it's Kevin McCarthy. If there's another junior team that comes knocking on his door I'd be packing his bags myself if I were Rutherford. IMO Lavi isn't the problem, I'm not sure what the issue is but I'm convinced it's the players, not the coach.

He's much better than whoever's available anyways.
