He's looked quite impressive...he's been very confident on the ice, making agressive plays at both ends of the rink. He's shown excellent offensive instincts (when to jump into the play, etc.) and he has rarely, if ever, looked tentative in his actions. He knows what to do when he has the puck and has the ability to distribute it effectlively. There have been occasions on which his agressiveness has gotten him into trouble, but he hasn't made any aggregious errors and, honestly, I'd prefer an aggressive rookie to one that's just trying not to make mistakes. His confidence in making the transition to the pro game, how it's allowed his natural abilities to show through with almost no development/adjustment period and the ease with which he has fit right in with the rest of the team on the ice, especially on the powerplay, is probably what stands out the most for me.
He has yet to unleash his physical side, but it's only been two games...and I think such an unleashing could be in store before the season's through; however, even if it's not, I'm fairly confident in saying that most people who have seen him play have had their fanaticism over JJ validated.

I am looking forward to his big hits and nastiness more than his scoring. I know he will score, the physical part is still in question considering everyones big in the NHL. I am sure he can hit, it is just a matter of when he feels it is time to start taking the body instead of making the smart defensive play (in his mind).

Yes I know and agree that JMFJ is young and has mad skills. I've seen the you tube videos and buy into the hype. Nevertheless, we have yet to see any of his big hits and he has yet to lay into the puck. Seems tentative and thus far he hasn't been worth the price of admission. Sure the day will come and it may be on Thursday, but if you're honest you should admit there's a tinge of dissappointment in not seeing what we've exptected and wanted to see.
An added note, Pushkarev & Zieler showed more physical play in their first 3 games than Jack.
