Spacek value/proposals?

this started on the CBJ board and i thought I'd bring it out here...

Not that Columbus would trade him, but what do you think is the value of Jaroslav Spacek -- keep in mind, he's 29, offensive ability (45 points last year), not bad defensively, cheap (only in the $1-2-million).

Any interest? What would you give?

A Bruin fan brought this to the CBJ board.

I asked for Hilbert and a 2nd ...

fire away...

I'd offer Martin Skoula and a 5th for him.

I'm intrigued..

I'd be interested in a Spacek for Skoula swap, but I'd also like to get a 2nd round pick as well (to move to Vancouver for Umberger). Columbus could toss in a prospect or pick as well, but I don't know what.

Actually, trading Umberger for Colorado's second rounder would just be stupid, because Umberger, should he not sign, will bring us a pick in the spot he was drafted in the second round. (I think he was drafted 16th in the first round, therefore we will receive a 46th overall pick).
46th overall will be a better pick than Colorado's pick.

Columbus's pick for Umberger?

Done

I see what you're saying -- BUT, Columbus doesn't have a 2nd rounder this year. It went to Dallas in exchange for Sydor. That's why, as a Columbus fan, I'm seeking a second round pick. What you're saying certainly makes sense though.

I'm fairly sure that league compensatory picks are at the end of the round. Hence Colorado's pick would be better than the comp pick. Any one else have any input on this?

Compensatory picks for losing a former 1st round pick is a compensatory pick in the 2nd round in the same draft position. Umberger was drafter 16th overall, so whatever team owned Umbergers' rights last would receive a 2nd round pick in the same position, 46th overall(or in that range).
