PLAYOFFS - Who are you rooting for?

I'm curious as to who you will be rooting for in this years playoffs and why?

I'm rooting for Minnesota in the West because Nicklas Backstrom (SP?) saved my fantasy season and got me into the finals. Plus I like the way they go about their business, even if their uniforms are ultra-pukey.

In the East I'm rooting for the SE teams. The SE still doesn't get a lot of respect, so I'd like to see ATL or TB take the cup this year to keep the streak alive.

Rooting *against* the Sabres and Penguins for starters. Since neither the Caps or Oilers are in it, I haven't decided on who I'm going to root *for* yet. From an entertainment standpoint, I'd like to see a Sens/Sabres versus Sharks/Wild final.

i like the wild as well. want to see sabres and pens bounced in the first round. more than anything, i'll just be watching players and rooting for the ones i like.

Tampa. They're pretty much the home team for me at this point, I only cheer against them when they are playing the Caps (or if them winning hurts the Caps).

Echo the Bears sentiment. That was awesome last year. I made it to one game and the Bears couldn't even summon a goal, so I might follow them remotely this Spring.

For the NHL, probably NJ and Anaheim. Soft spot for the Habs, if they make it.

Sabres/Penguins in the east, anyone who plays Detroit in the west. I still haven't forgiven Detroit for ruining that one cup run the Caps had.

i got to 2 games in the finals, they pooped the bed saturday & then destroyed sunday... good arena, good atmosphere

for NHL playoffs, i gotta say i dont really like any of the teams in the East - but will be keeping a close eye on Atlanta, see how Kovey does in the playoffs... and see if Hossa can step it up...

i want to see Pittsburgh go down in flames

Against Buffalo, TB, Atlanta, NYR, and Pitt. Anyone else in the east? Rooting for Ottawa I guess.

Calgary is my 2nd team.... so obviously for them.

I'm rooting for exciting, well-played, spirited hockey. I don't really favor another team in particular...if I had to guess the finals matchup I'd go with New Jersey and Detroit.

(And go Bears!)

Every team in the East grates on my last nerve, so one of the teams in the West. I don't really have a favorite yet.

I just hope Buffalo and the Pens crash and burn.

*runs*

Speaking of playoff hockey, this Canadiens-Leafs game is fantastic.

Hershey Bears again. That was such an awesome summer, rivaled only by the summer of '98.

For the NHL, definitely will be rooting against Buffalo for hatred and draft pick purposes, against pittsburgh (would love to see their three guys choke it hard). Curiosity will have me tuning into ATL.

Anaheim - ATL final. My uncle's prediction back in october

Hmm, in the East?

Can I hope for every team to fall off the map?

I actually would like to see the Isles get in and make a run. I don't think it happens, but seen crazier things go.

I just know I am rooting against the Thrashers, Pens, Sabres, Lightning and probably the Rangers.

I've always had a soft spot for Buffalo, St. Louis, and L.A. because they're the only teams (I think) to have never won a Cup longer than we have, and for Chicago because of family roots and out of pity, the Isles because they're the anti-Rangers, and Montreal and Minnesota just because. I don't have to worry about any of those teams now but one (the Sabres are on probation because of the in-season sparring).

So the East, as of this morning, in order from favorite to least (subject to change depending on which teams make it):

Ottawa > everyone else > Toronto > NYR/Pittsburgh

In the West (I dislike the lower-ranked teams a whole lot less. I don't mind most of them, Dallas and Detroit excepted):

Minnesota > Vancouver > San Jose > Calgary > Nashville > Anaheim > Dallas > Detroit

But I'll be cheering for the West anyway if a crap team gets in in the East (and it almost certainly will), unless it's Detroit. Then I'll back a Southeast team if the Eastern team is one (even Atlanta!), and I'll go for the Wings if they're against any of the bottom three in the East.

Playoff sympathies are complicated like that, y'know?

If Atlanta wins the Cup, that sets the stage for a Washington or Florida Cup win next season and the season after that. Two years from now we'll either have a Cup or be on our way to one... at long ****ing last already.

Bears .....

As far as the NHL goes .... no body really (though Ottawa, Minnesota, and the Sharks are the teams I despise the least).
