This is going to get shutdown really, really quickly. Political beliefs are too much kindling and someone is going to light a match.

Let's keep this in perspective and don't worry about politics. Let's just be happy that we've captured one of the world's most ruthless criminals.

Did anyone from the 101st have anything to do with his actual capture? That would be great vindication if they did since they’ve had such a high casualty total over there (if not the highest).

Now, on to Bin Laden please. Hopefully he will hear this and realize that he can be found too.

Anyways, great job to all the troops involved!

I don't see how Dean being medically prohibited from going to Vietnam is cowardly. In fact, if you oppose a political war such as vietnam was, then what is cowardly about not wanting to go anyways? Nothing is brave about having your daddy get you in the national guard in front of 1,000's on the waiting list knowing you'll never come within 10,000 miles of vietnam.

I could really type pages about all this, but this is a hockey forum and out of respect I'll not. I probably won't change anyone's mind. We should just take a deep breath and realize we're lucky to be in this country regardless.

So...Erat's looking good as of late, eh?

actually I wasn't talking about Dean not going to vietnam. more like how they are afraid to make difficult decisions and are willing to sacrifice the good of the country for there poll numbers. I'm not saying republicans don't do it infact I think all poloticians do it to some extent. for some reason I just see the dems doing it more. I could be wrong but it's only my opinion everyone is welcome to there own

I agree. I think it's way too high now, but I know that's radical thinking. As someone who loves Economics, I learned long ago how foolish a wage floor would be and how it would disrupt the lower work force. People will work for what they will work for. I think we should watch for exploitation of cheap immigrant labor, but if someone is willing to work for 4 an hour, but can't get hired because the wage floor is 6 (this happens more often than you might think) is a travesty. And to the American worker who thinks he'll lose his job. If someone comes along and works cheaper than you and emulates your effectiveness, maybe you shouldn't be doing what it is you are doing (fry cook...etc).

Erat still rocks!

If you've studied CURRENT economics, you should be concerned rigth now.
Even though the DOW is surging, middle class America is losing its bread and butter career path to engineers and programmers in India, Rumania, China, etc., while the blue collar jobs go to Asia and Mexico.

So don't count on flocks of fat and happy voters for Bush when people wake up and their spouse, sibling, father, or mother gets their job outsourced due to the advent of the international "new world order" hailed by GW's Daddy.

I don't have the answer, but therein lies the problem.
But we can't be a prosperous nation and world power if we all work at Wal-Mart, Taco Bell, and McDonalds.

My biggest concern is not that we are losing the jobs. It's that we don't have the ability to keep them. We are at a competitive disadvantage in these areas, and I needn't tell you what economists think about that.

And, if we all work at McDonalds, we don't deserve to be a world power. If we can't do what we do atleast on par with India etc, then maybe we should either figure out a way to do it better, or do something else.

Only in America can you make $20 an hour to screw a valve onto a tire.

Which is why everyone comes to America. Honestly, I think one of the reasons we will shortly not be a world power is that we have too few Americans. China is stepping up to the plate and their work force is almost 5 times our size. Honestly.......how can we compete????

So China's rising because of a large work force that works for pennies?
