Does anyone know where there is a "valid" electronic copy of the CBA. I usually quote using this Buffalo version. Today I was looking at the letsgopens version and it's different.

The differences I noticed were in Article 10.5 which deals with compensation for restricted free agents.

For example the Buffalo version has this compensation statement
Quote:
OVER $1.4 MILLION TO AND INCLUDING $1.7 MILLION TWO FIRST ROUNDS AND ONE SECOND ROUND
while the Pens version is
Quote:
Over $1,334,867 - $1,668,582 FIRST AND THIRD ROUND

I would guess those are both older versions of compensation.

On USA Today as of July 1, 2003 the RFA compensation was as follows:
Restricted free agents - Group II: Players that have been tendered a qualifying offer by their respective clubs and are subject to draft-choice compensation and right to match. The draft choice compensation scale is based on compensation offered by the new club:

Offer Compensation
$727,502 or below: None.
Over $727,502 - $1,000,315: Third-round choice
Over $1,000,315 - $1,182,191: Second-round choice
Over $1,182,191 - $1,455,005: First-round choice
Over $1,455,005 - $1,818,754: First and third-round choices
Over $1,818,754 - $2,182,505: First and second-round choices
Over $2,182,505 - $2,546,256: Two first-round choices
Over $2,546,256 - $3,091,882: Two first-round and one second-round choice
Over $3,091,882: Three first-round choices
Each additional - $1,818,754: One additional first-round choice to a maximum of five

The compensation is tied to the average salary, IIRC.

It varies every year, depending on the rate of salary inclination or declination (average salary).

They even both differ from the USA published dollar amounts. I would gather that the $ figures on USA Today are the accurate ones.
