Dan Paille playing with Crosby

For those of you who haven't ventured to the Prospects board section, I snagged this out of a post from leafssuck:

That's hockey interviewed the coach and these were the forward groups he said they were working with:

Scoring line: Richards Getzlaf Burns
Scoring line: Dawes Stewart Carter
Scoring line: Paillé Crosby Tambellini
checking line: Brent Talbot Dixon/Colliton

Tambellini is supposed to be one of the faster players in the tournamant, and everyone should know about Sidney Crosby, so we could see some good numbers from Dan.

Congrats to Daniel... that line will be in the spotlight, and let's hope he puts up some big stats.

You know, I was thinking that it'd be nice to be able to say this 3 years from now...

Canada takes an early tune up game from the Swede's, 3-2. Paille with an assist on Jeff Carter's goal, 3:20 into the third period which gave the Nats a 2-1 lead at that time. No word on other linemates for Danny, though Nigel Dawes reportedly played with Mike Richards and Anthony Stewart (see tsn.ca )

Terry Koshan of the Toronto Sun ran through all of the players on Canada's Junior team and wrote this on Paille....

Quote:

16. DANIEL PAILLE, F

Born: April 4, 1984, Welland

Size: 6-foot, 203 pounds

Club: Guelph, OHL (Buffalo)

The goods: Only returnee, other than Fleury, from last winter's silver-medal winning team ... On a team brimming with leadership, was named captain ... Could be best body-checker on the team ... Consistently solid points producer in three-plus years in junior.

One more thing: Paille is on a line with Crosby and Tambellini primarily to make room for the other two.

That pick is looking better every time Paille plays.

Nice job by Darcy to make the deal to move up to select Daniel. He'll be a fan favorite here in Buffalo.

If for no other reason than he'll have his own section in the stands for family. He should be a solid pro-style winger. If he translates his entire game into the pro's, he'll be a welcome addition with his physicality, particularly considering how non-aggressive the Sabres top 9 currently tends to be.

Paille is probably the best hitter in the WJC tourney, and it was nice to see him score a big goal from in close in the game vs. Finland. He reminds me of Varada, with perhaps a little better offensive touch and a little less dirty play. Paille will definitely be a guy that nobody wants to play against and is only a year or so away from being on our 3rd line in Buffalo.

I seem to come back to Ryan Walter as who I think of when I see him. Stocky build, good hands and brain, able to punk someone who's not looking and will make your checking line tick.
