Betts only Ranger on McGuire's 'All-Monster Team'

i am not posting this because i put any stock in his selections or his ramblings, but moreso because its nice to see Betts get his share of praise once in a while.. i think the management did a good job of signing him to an extension.

I like the team...

he put together. Betts is a quality fourth liner - not many fourth liners out there who can score 10 goals.

Wait...why is the posted list completely different then the ones he picked on the show...

Lidstrom, not Phaneuf
Pominville, not Penner

I wonder why the list is different...

I found it hard to believe that in the "player grades" thread, most of the posters were giving this guy a C-, C, D+, etc. Makes you wonder if people watch games. Ask Lundqvist what Blair Betts' final grade should be - im sure he appreciates the way he sacrifices everything for the team. The reason Renney is in love with him is quite simple: he's reliable. No forward blocked more shots this year than Betts and he is a huge part of a PK unit that was very successful in the 2nd half.

P.S. Although im an Isles fan, I'm not here to make any waves. I've always admired Betts' play and glad to see he is finally getting some recognition.

he isn't overly physical, he doesn't put up points, so he gets no love from the majority of Ranger fans, same song and dance.

Anyone Who Doesn't Think Blair Betts Is A Necessary Player on This Team is crazy , he isn't flashy he just does his job (wins most face off"s and blocks shots, kills penalties and he can score if given the oportunity ) and he does it well ! Heres to Blair finally getting some recognition

They even said on the show that Phaneuf didn't make the cut. Interesting indeed.

Good for him, he has sacrificed his body so many times this season to block shots, and do all the other little things that you need a few players on your team to do in order to win.

Can't get much better in terms of 4th liners over Betts. Excellent on faceoffs, takes the body here and there, very good speed, and finds way to score goals with the nice shot he has.

If the guy had play making ability, he'd be a top 3 line player... O well.

Always liked Betts, he scored 10 goals, also gets tons of chances, hits a lot of posts too.

I've said more than a few time thats Blair Betts is one of the best 4th line centers in the league. He gives you EVERYTHING you want in a 4th line center.

Ill tel lyou what, Betts was one of the best forwards in last years playoffs for the Rangers - yeah alot of guys were injured but if he shows that kind of play this year we are in for a treat from the fourth line.

Betts is a very solid 4th line guy, some may even call him a monster.

always liked betts, he does alot of the little things that don't get noticed, always using the boards to clear the zone, sacrificing his body, good on faceoffs, very good in the defensive zone, playing against top lines with little defensive help (orr and hollweg, hollweg isnt that bad defensively, but him and orr are not players i want to go against a crosby, elias, etc), and his solid team play

glad hes getting some credit, however chris neil is a clown and kind of ruins the list for me

Betts is a classic example of a guy who has found his niche. He's a terrific 4th line center, the kind of player you win with. As a 3rd line center he was in a little over his head. As this team builds depth, he'll be even better with younger and more talented wingers coming along.

Don't you know you can't play talented young wingers on the fourth line....
