Our UFA, RFA-s.. who will leave? who will sign for what?

Ok guys tell me who you think will leave from our UFA and RFA-s and who will resign and for how much money.

First off, the following 3 have confirmed that they are gone:
Niinimaa
Johnson
Aebischer
Leighton

This leaves us with

3 UFA-s: In ( ) is the amount they were making.

Bonk- UFA (2.4)
Markov: UFA (2.00)
Souray: UFA (2.4)

6 RFA-s:
Higgins: RFA (670)
Plekanec: RFA (450)
Perezhogin: RFA (627)
Ryder: RFA (2.2)
Komi: RFA (946)
Georges: RFA

Here are my thoughts on what will happen:

Bonk- Offered 2 million take or leave.
Markov- Signs for 5 million
Souray- Offered 4.5 but leaves.
Higgins: Signed for 1.2 million
Plekanec: Signed for 1.5 million
Perez: Signed for 0.7 million
Ryder: Signed for 3 million (to make sure although he didnt improve his stats from last year)
Komisarek: Signed for 1.5 million
Georges- Signed for 0.5 million

What are your predictions?

I think some of the guys will cost more than that but I guess it depends for how long we sign them.

Like Komi for example. We can sign him to a 1 year deal at 1.2 or something like that. Or 2 years for 1.5/1.8 a year. we could also offer him a longer deal, like 4 years for 8mil$ like Hamhuis sign with Nashville last year. 1.5/1.75/2.25/2.5 type of deal.

Same with Higgins, Plekanec. And Ryder won't cost 3mil$ a year. Cheechoo sign for 3, ryder will be in the range of 2.3/2.8 depending on the numbers of year. Let's not forget he is 1 year away from UFA.

My thoughts exactly, sign all the RFA's, give Souray an offer, he most likely will sign elsewhere but give it a shot atleast. MUST Sign Markov and i'm quite confident we will get him back. Give Bonk an offer quite cheap, if he wants to stay in montreal for a reduced salary great if not, see ya later Radek. Niinima, Abby, Johnson, Leighton gone. Only one of those 4 i'd be somewhat willing to keep is Johnson but he's made it clear he wants to go and with the amount of young talent we have about ready to make the next step it's probably better we free up some roster space.

Sorry if this has been asked many times.

You all say Johnson is leaving? Any link, or reason to such a confident call?

Thanks

Did I miss something about Johnson? I thought there was a chance he'd re-sign.

I really hope we could get Tom Preissing; he's so underrated maybe he could fly under the radar and we can get him for a decent price (3.5 M$ ?)

Seriously though. I was more than pleased with what he offered to the third line this year. For that matter, I wasn't disappointed with the job he, Perez AND Bonk did together. Too bad Bonk makes too much. I'd love to have that line for a total of 3 mil (less would be super! haha). Truth is we've got a lotta players coming up who can probably fill any of their roles at entry level cost. Atleast, I hope.

Seems like Gainey pretty much said Johnson and Bonk are gone (from what i've heard, i didn't see the press conference).

Markov will get a bit less a think.
Komisarek too. I think think him, Plekanec, Ryder and Higgins will sign short term deals. And I think Perezhogin will stay here.

I agree with the rest.

Edit: actually, i think Souray is gone....

Honestly, I think Markov can be signed for a 4 year 18 million dollar contract.

More than a chance, I'd say. I've read he wants return in some places, and in others that he doesn't. I've read in some places that the Habs want him back, others not so much. I don't think anyone on this team is confirmed as leaving, except maybe Aebischer. Even Niinimaa might re-sign if he's willing to take less money (he'll have to do that to play anywhere next year)

Unless Ryder is signing a long term (3 or 4 years) for big dollars, as in more then 3-3.5 mil a season, I would bet on his signing a 1 year contract for not much more then his qualifying offer. He has shown he can put up at least 30 goals a year twice now. Any team looking to land a bonified sniper will try and throw big dollars at him and if he doesn't know that, his agent surely does.

During yesterday's press conference the only team UFA's Gainey committed himself to re-signing were Souray and Markov. As for the other team UFA's; although Gainey did not say he wouldn't re-sign some of them, he said that he also had to consider the great strides many of the younger players in the organization have made this year.

That is an awful lot of money to throw at a couple of guys who just finished their 2nd season. 2.6 and 2.3 cap hits for those two is way too much, IMO.

first Habs should pull off a Lou Lamorello move. He did it so why can't the Habs.
Just tell everyone Samsonov has retired. By the time the dust settles and the NHL has desided the issue it's 18 months later, the Cap will be a 55mil the Habs will then just buy him out or better yet, go to court, it takes 3 years and in the end Samsonov might have got hit by a bus.

Yeah, for this year, I agree....but 2,5M in 4 years for Chris Higgins will be pretty good. I think its fair for both side.

Sign him for 1 year-1.5m can be a mistake, we all know that he can put 35-40 goals next year and then,4M will be the price top pay for him.

and be honest, 2.5M next year with the cap at 47-48 is not THAT much.
